+8 Internets | If you like Martial Arts movies, there is one movie you _NEED_ to watch : The 36th Chamber of Shaolin (aka The Master Killer) This movie is a Kung Fu masterpiece. All the movies suggested by Vorph are also excellent choices (apart from Fist of Legend maybe, but that is a very personnal choice, it's a good movie all in all). Personnaly, I strongly dislike anything Bruce Lee related, but I guess you could always watch one or two of his movies to see what it's like if you have not already. Just do not make it a priority.

+2 Internets | 5 Deadly Venoms is pretty amazing, as is Shaolin vs Llama. Wheels on Meals and City Hunter are pretty decent Jackie Chan flicks. There are so many to list I can't even begin, just all depends on how much wuxia/cheese you want. I personally love Master of the Flying Guillotine and such so... Mr.Vampire may be my favorite of all time, but it is comedy/fu and may not be what you're looking for. For the true Mr.Vampire experience though you must watch it with both english dubs and english subtitles, two different movies in one! Just stay the hell away from Mr.Vampire 2 though, god what a flaming turd that was. Edit: Forgot Stormriders, that one is a definate must. Mud monk 4tw. |

+5 Internets | I really enjoy martial arts movies like Hero, House of Flying Daggers, etc. The whole epic storyline thing is really cool. Basically any of the older Jackie Chan stuff is great, if you aren't strictly into period pieces even stuff like Police Story is really just amazing. I keep planning to watcht he Tony Jaa movies, but I haven't had a chance yet. Of course, the old Bruce Lee stuff, that little guy was intimidating as hell. |

+9 Internets | A vaste topic... can you narrow it down a little? It often seems like Hong Kong does not make "martial art movies", but simply movies who happen to have martial arts in them. Comedy, drama, historical, horror, thriller, whatever... with martial arts. As is, I can allready recommand: - Ashes of Time (art house movie about identity and memory... with martial arts) - Tsui Hark's The Blade (classic epic of the man brought down that raises again... with martial arts) - Once Upon A Time In China V (AAA dumb comedy-action... with martial arts) - Duel to the Death (fantasy and nippono-chinese rivalry... with martial arts) - Last Hurrah for Chivalery (homage by John Woo to the classic kung fu movies done by his master Chang Cheh for the Shaw Brothers... with martial arts!) - Any King Hu - A Touch of Zen, Raining In The Mountain, The Valiant Ones, etc - (the source material for Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon... with martial arts). Huh huh... that list is getting long... I better stop at that.

+1 Internets | No need to stop I appreciate all the suggestions, I didn't want to list every movie I've seen but Hero, House of Flying Daggers, Kill Bill, the Protector, Iron Monkey, Once Upon a Time in China were all entertaining. I guess if I were to narrow it down I could only specify, I dislike cutting inside the action sequences. So Bruce Lee movies are awful for me. But thank you all so far I see about 10 movies I need to watch in here so you've all been very helpful. |

| Lord of the Wu-Tang was one of the first movies Jet Lee (or is it Le/Li... can't remember atm) did. I only have a VHS copy of it but I'm sure you can find a DVD version of it. It's a good flick but there is a lot of wire work in it. |

| No love for Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky? It has to be hands down the best martial art movie ever made. Period.

+9 Internets | So there is this thing called You Tube and I found a trailer for Ashes of Time YouTube - Ashes Of Time (Criterion) And also on You Tube the ENDING fight of a movie I forgot: Dragon Inn. The guy put it up there as something very funny while it's all but. All idea of realism is forfeited, it's all concepts, movements and light: it's pure cinematic poetry. YouTube - Dragon Inn The lateral traveling on a sand sledge from hell at 1:38 is 9 second of cinema history.
