| The movie looks really good, just didn't like the trailer all that much. I know it's a teaser, but if they were going to show that much, mght as well go all out and give us a full length trailer. But I'm also a huge trailer critique so I'm sure a lot of people liked it . |

| The Apple trailer in HD worked fine for me. The movie looked amazing. I can't imagine how it looked in 3-D. Makes me wish that James Cameron made movies more frequently but I guess you can't rush genius.

+58 Internets | I don't think it's going to make much money and since they spent over $300m to make it that's going to suck in that aspect. But Cameron obviously deeply cares for this project due to the amount of time he's been working on it so I really trust it will be a good film. To delay it nearly a decade because you wanted the technology to be right for your project shows patience to make sure it's what he wanted it to be and he wasn't worried about it being released on the heels of Titanic or T2. Will definitely see it. |

+69 Internets | The visuals in the trailer were quite stunning. I am curious as to if there's going to be a nagging "uncanny valley" feeling with the CG alien characters, or if this will be one of the first time's we get a relatively humanoid CG character that completley fools the brain. It was interested to see the Prawns in District 9, they didn't feel "fake" at all, I could easily believe that a Prawn would be an actual being from a different planet, but they weren't "humanoid" in the sense that our brains battled against it. Then, you think back to the Final Fantasy: Spirits Within movie, and how jarring the uncanny valley could be. Hell, even both Hulk movies, while great CG, you could never actually "see" the hulk as something that was "really there when they filmed" and not clearly CG against a real backdrop. I'll be seeing it for sure, Cameron is someone who definitely has the capability to change the face of modern cinema with a leap like this.

As far as Avatar goes, I figure it'll be a good movie because Cameron has been reliable, but I have to say that those aliens look absolutely retarded to me on a purely aesthetic level. Doesn't mean aliens couldn't look like that (though even to that end they seem like a rather strange mishmash of human parts + tail, but I don't think Cameron is a furry so we'll pretend those similarities are unintentional), I just feel like they made a horrible choice in character design. Also, based on the trailer I don't think they're going to fool the brain into thinking they're not CG, not even close. Facial animation is a big part of that too though and we don't get too see too much of that in the trailer. Not trying to talk it down though, I'm glad he's doing another big budget sci-fi movie and will give it a chance no matter how the trailers are from here on out. | |

+9 Internets | I tried to hold back on some of the negatives in my last post, but I watched it twice more and think Cameron may have completely lost it. It just looks like a $300 million Saturday morning cartoon, and not even a good one for the most part. And I say $300 million because I hear that's what it cost, not because it looks like it's worth it. |

+3 Internets | I don't know, some of the jungle scenes look cheesy but the first part in the medical room you can see some really detailed work going on, feet wrinkles, etc. But plot...completely Pocahontas with aliens or Dances with Wolves with Aliens.
