Sandlot is NOT about baseball. It uses baseball as a medium to tell the story of childhood friends. In the same way A River Runs Thru It used fly fishing to tell the story about the Mcleans in Montana.

Major League is just awesome. I can watch that movie over and over and never get bored of it.

"Up your's Joboo.."

When Taylor calls his shot ...ahhh that just owns.

Yeah, but you could probably say the same for a number of the other movies people have named. At any rate, its enough of a baseball to name it on the best baseball movie list.

Sandlot

That makes no sense. You can probably come up with a similar statement to argue that any movie is not about what it is really about. If The Sandlot is not about baseball, I don't know what is. It gets my vote along with The Natural, a movie that is not about baseball but uses baseball as a medium to tell the story of a man who battles a life-threatening injury.

Maybe I should have explained it this way. The story has baseball in it, but its about Smalls and his friendship that developed with Benny because of baseball. I dont want to get in an arguement about however, this is my opinion and you are entitled to yours.

By that rationale Gankak, pretty much any movie that isn't a documentary or actual baseball game isn't a baseball movie. The whole reason baseball and sports movies in general are considered entertaining is because they tell a seemingly unrelated story through the eyes of the sport.

All of the good ones have already been mentioned, but Little Big League is something I can watch over and over.

not sure exactly how it goes but, "Billy, you can't leave man, you are the only manager I have ever had who has understood the intricacies of the water balloon."

Best baseball movie ever...

Bang the Drum Slowly

1973 flick with Robert DeNiro in a non-typical roll for him. The two main actors (DeNiro and Micheal Moriarty) interact really well, and the movie is well written. A tad slow by today's standards I guess, but has some very powerful scenes.

haha yes and i don't know why but the funniest part imo is the painter scene where he has to finish his homework before he can go out to the game.
"I should know this, my uncle's a painter"

Heh, For Love of the Game was physically painful to watch it was so bad.

The Fan was pretty awful too. Even DeNiro couldn't save it. Easily the worst Tony Scott film.

Tony Scott

I haven't seen Revenge, but I heard it was pretty awful, which is why I've always avoided it even though I like Tony Scott a lot.

Revenge was a bit lacking plotwise and kinda slow in some parts, but visually it was very good. I didn't feel like I wasted my time when I walked out of the theater.

It's no Crimson Tide or The Hunger but I liked it much better then The Fan and Days of Thunder.
