No I think that he was equating Soundwave to Frenzy as they are both audio devices. Frenzy was obnoxious though.

Ah yeah, I didn't know that it was Frenzy, since he turned into a stereo I thought he was the new Soundwave.

oh, something I didn't understand is why the Cube turned machines into what seemed like innately evil robots? Wouldn't they be neutral? or do they have to be reprogrammed for good by Optimus? or what?

Been a while since I read the origins but here is the way I thought it went. The transformers were created by an intelligent form of aliens and then They disapeared. The alspark/Matrix is the source of power. I took it as the Alspark makes things more technologically advanced but doesnt give them intelligence.

The fact that it turned a cell phone into a mini-weapons platform means you shouldn't bother question why it makes shit the way it does :/ IT'S MICHAEL BAY should suffice as an answer.

heres 2 quotes from wiki

Quote:
Unicron was a fallen god from before the universe existed, who sought the ultimate peace that would be granted by the destruction of all life. Amazingly, Unicron accomplished this task, wiping out all life, planets, stars and nebulae, even "the stuff of space itself" (possibly dark matter) in the universe and leaving only nothingness and void. His lust for destruction finally sated, Unicron entered a deep sleep - but he had not been thorough enough. Tiny fragments of the old universe reacted with each other, and a new universe was born. As Unicron slept, the core of this new universe - somehow a sentient being - became aware of Unicron's threat and created a defender to battle his evil - Primus, the Lord of Light. Unicron awoke to find himself surrounded by another universe, and simply began to destroy it again.

He and Primus clashed many times, the force of their battles wiping out the very life Primus had been created to protect. To stop this physical destruction, Primus shifted the battle to the astral plane, where he fared little better, forcing himself into what seemed to be a sacrifice play - in shifting the battle back to the physical universe without time to properly generate their energy forms, Primus entrapped both himself and Unicron in two barren asteroids. But this was not the end of Unicron - over the eons, he learned to psionically shape his asteroid, and transformed it into a metallic planet, and then again into a gargantuan robot. Primus, fearing that to follow suit by forming himself in a similar manner would simply pick up the conflict where it had left off, sought an alternative way to defend the universe against the threat of Unicron by turning his asteroid into the planet Cybertron; a planet that he populated with robotic beings that, like Unicron, could alter their forms. And thus were born the Transformers.
Quote:
The first clash between Unicron and Primus came when Unicron succeeded in his goal of consuming the universe. As he slumbered in the void, he hadn't been thorough enough—tiny fragments of the universe remained, and reacted with each other, creating the Big Bang that bore the current universe. The universe grew around Unicron, and when he awoke, he did not question it, and merely began to consume it again. The sapient core of the universe responded by creating a guardian to battle Unicron—and this was Primus. The infant universe shook and quaked from the ferocity of their battles, and Primus was eventually forced into a desperate gamble. He shifted the battle to the astral plane, where he fared no better, and then returned them to the physical universe—but instead of allowing them to materialize in their energy forms, he entrapped both Unicron and himself in two metallic asteroids.

Primus at the heart of CybertronUnicron would not be stopped, psionically shaping his asteroid into a massive metal world, and then into a gargantuan robot. Primus, however, elected to create a race of guardians to defend the universe against Unicron, transforming his own asteroid into a metal world - Cybertron, and on that world, he gave birth to the Transformers, bestowing the race with his distilled genetic Matrix. So Primus slumbered, shutting himself down to hide the world from Unicron, until the time came.

How is that story the real origin? I found this bit about the two different origins.

"The popularity of the idea is not universal within the Transformers fandom, and it notably flies in the face of the original animated show's version of events, where there was no Primus, and the Transformers were created by the Quintessons. An earlier convention-exclusive comic merged the two storylines in explanation, but was met with similarly mixed opinions."

1. I want to find that comic.
2. Who is with me that ultra magnus was way more bad ass then Rodimus
3. I never realized how indepth the transformers storyline went until tonight

There are multiple versions of Transformers "history". I personally think the comics version is more compelling and has more plot potential, but honestly there are something like a dozen different versions out there now, so it doesn't matter.

I loved the Transformers comic, although the storylines didn't coincide at all with the animated series. I liked the series as well at the time, but the comics were infinity times better.

I like Tyrese because his name sounds like Tyree.

As in:
"No Tyree, you had sex with me too."
"Correction. I had sex with Katie."

Imho, the movie sucked. Poor story, shitty fighting scenes, pathetic end fight.

Just what I expected really.
