but I do have the little stat graphs cut out!
Fuck, I had forgotten about those!

The product placement in the movie wasn't all that bad, other than the Panasonic card and maybe the Nokia thing. As others have said, a typical city is covered with ads, it makes sense you'd see some in the urban fight scenes. I was on my patio last night, which is on the roof of a building downtown, and I counted at least 20 corporate logos without even turning my head.

I still think the movie was incredibly mediocre, outside of the fight scenes.

I forget to mention in my last post that I really enjoyed the movie. My only other problem was how they planned to fly the cube out of the city. Did it cross their minds at any point that two of the decepticons can fly? I know it's a minor plot hole but it bothered me while watching the end of the movie. Not sure if it was mentioned earlier, I believe a missed a few posts.

gah, I meant 4... not 3 -_-

And technially, all decepticons could probably fly. Bumblebee just had to rub his taint near that other car to take it's shape, I imagine the rest can do that too.

The only thing I didn't get was the decision to take the cube through the city prior to being air lifted... "Hey, Megatron just escaped and he wants this cube... quick, send it into a heavy civilian area!"

They had no way to contact anyone. They had to go to Mission City to find a hardline or something to communicate.

All phone and satellite communication were taken down by the virus, and the decepticons knew the cube/Megatron were there. So they evacuated the cube while the others morse coded F-22s support in. They picked up shortwave radios from the rental shop in the city to call the airlift. Dangerous to civilians, yes, but being exposed on a desert highway will 0 communication at all would have been stupider.

But the SecDef could magically call in a precision air strike using Morse code.

Launch F-22 support. Break. Send to City. Break. Authenticate Zulu-Tango-Niner-Five. Break.

Yeah?

Thats what they did, they wanted F22's for fighter support while they evaced the choppers. And the only way to get the choppers the location you needed was short wave radio which they had to go to the city to get.

I went into this expecting to be let down. After all, it IS Mike Bay we're talking about.

First off, a note to Hollywood:

Hi.

We're the people that are your paychecks.

99.99% of moviegoers think this shakey-cam shit licks the crusted smegma from a dead goats cock.

STOP IT.

Signed,

The Majority of Your Potential Income.

The fight scenes that you could make out were pretty neat (and Optimus' arm-sword decap was fucking pwnage), but most of them were too hard to follow...there's just too much raw real-estate moving at once on a giant screen for your eyes to follow and process properly. This is separate from the fact that the Transformers movie, to me, should be at least 80% Transformers, not 15%.

The retard from the S-7 should have been cut out all together or completely re-written with a different actor. This portion *could* have been made relevant. As is, it ain't.

Megan Fox ain't bad, and I certainly wouldn't kick her out of bed for eating crackers, but she isn't anywhere near hot enough to justify the hour+ of camera time that should have been on the robots instead of the humans.

All in all I was surprised to see, at the end, that over two hours had gone by. I was entertained. That's what a movie is supposed to do!

Was it all it could have been? Not even close. Was it worth seeing? Once, yes.

Here's to hoping the sequels are more robots.

And the 'product placement' wasn't nearly as bad as I had expected it to be, other than the SD card. I was actually disappointed more by Bumblebee's turning into a brand new Camaro (which is ass-ugly to me) over the classic one. And I must admit, I did a massive, whooping RL LOL at the Mountain Dew machine.

What I don't 'get' was: the cube was OK in Bumblebee's back seat. It was OK on Prime's shoulder. But get it within 15 feet of Megatrons' stomach and it's meltdown time?

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Megatron melted down when the cube was forced into his chest. Prime was going to do the same thing and sacrifice himself in order to destroy the cube.

I don't normally say this...but your opinion is wrong.

So far this thread is proving that many people can't even follow the "simplistic" plot of a movie like Transformers. I wonder how they deal with genuinely challenging movies?

It's like playing guitar hero on easy after playing Expert, sometimes it's just too easy and you screw up expecting more~

Clearly.
