If he is, it'll be a 20 year old Aragorn cameo in Rivendell, in which case they may as well get a younger actor.

Bilbo is 111 when the trilogy starts, he find the ring some 30 years before?

Aragorn is half elf and wouldn't have aged a day in that time.

Qua? Aragorn is a descendant of the kings of Numenor the first of which, I believe, was Elrond's brother who chose to be human since they both had one human and one elven parent. I don't think the Tolkien half-elven is the same as the D&D half-elven variety in that if you choose to be mortal then you are. If you choose to be human, then you are. The blood to choose has long been thinned (Aragorn is something like 14 or so Numenorian generations removed) so for all intents and purposes is fully human but experiences unusual longevity because of his distant (though not so distant as other men's) blood relations.

/nerd off

Edit: Chris is right, Aragorn probably wasn't born 40ish. Younger actor indeed.

Bilbo was 55 or 56 in the Hobbit. so add another 55 years for LOTR.

Not that is matters. Gandalf specifically mentions that it appears as if Bilbo hasn't aged a day during that span.

It is specifically stated somewhere that Aragorn is around 70 in Lord of the Rings.
He will be around 20ish at the time of The Hobbit.

Now unless you think half elves (which he isn't) are born looking like a 40 year old, I think it is logical to assume that a similar looking new young actor could have a cameo in Rivendell.

I thought Theoden said he fought with Aragon when he was barely a man and Aragon looked the same then, when talking to Eowyn...

Aragon was 87 in LotR.

He is a Numenorean. Númenor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The same actor could play him. He has looked the same for almost 50 years.

I hope that Jackson doesn't alter the story as much this time around, no Bilbo killing the trolls with a headbutt or some such.

I happened to have Return of the King lying on my floor, so here's the answer: As per Appendix B (the timeline)

2890: Bilbo Born in the Shire
2931: Aragorn son of Arathorn II born on March 1st.
2941: Thorin Oakenshield and Gandalf visit Bilbo in the Shire. Bilbo meets Smeagol-Gollum and finds the Ring. blah blah blah etc etc... (The Hobbit)
2968: Birth of Frodo
2991: Eomer Eomund's son born in Rohan
3001: Bilbo's farewell feast (Start of LOTR)
3018: Full events of LOTR

*edit (added more after 2941 for reference)

I'm no Tolkien lore buff, but (basically expanding Brads linkage):

Aragorn - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Quote:
According to the appendices of The Return of the King, Aragorn, named after his ancestor Aragorn I, was born on March 1 in 2931 of the Third Age, the son of Arathorn II and his wife Gilraen. Through his ancestor Elendil (whom he closely resembled) Aragorn was a descendant of Elros Tar-Minyatur, Master Elrond's Half-elven twin brother and the first king of Númenor. Aragorn is descended from both of Elendil's sons, from Isildur through Arvedui, last King of Arthedain, and from Anárion through Arvedui's wife Fíriel.
So not half elf but definitely some elven blood.

The second film will fill in events between the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, so Aragorn will probably be in it.

it's been a while since I read the books, but was Aragorn in The Hobbit? The movies have tainted my memory I'm sure, but I can't remember him any earlier then showing up just after the hobbits head to Rivendale.
