Afaik, the family is still in court for like 250m from New Line, who didn't pay them what was in the contract. The other stipulation was that this breach negated the deal and they wanted the rights back. I hope this doesn't end like the Watchmen almost did with a completed movie that isn't allowed to be released.

Bets should be placed now on the actor that will voice Smaug. Double points if you pick the accent correctly (American, English, Scottish, etc).

i'd go with a scott/british/australian accent with someone with a Sinister sounding voice, but noone -offhand- comes to mind.

I'd rather they got someone unknown. Definitely not someone with a very recognizable voice. I think it would detract. So no Liam, no Connery.

Any word on Aragorn? I guess he'll only be in the second Hobbit movie, but the actor claims he is taking a break from acting. Then again, he could come off the break by the time this fucking slug of a film gets made.

He has no need to be in the film at all.
If he is, it'll be a 20 year old Aragorn cameo in Rivendell, in which case they may as well get a younger actor.
