+8 Internets | Since the second movie is suppose to cover the time period between the end of the Hobbit and the start of the trilogy, Frodo would pop up somewhere. |

| Chances are, they could get away with an appearance of Frodo at the end of the movie, and Legolas sometime when the setting is taking place in Legolas's Elven kingdom. I've only read the summary of the Hobbit, but there is a point when the protagonists do travel to Legolas's kingdom, correct?

+66 Internets | It's been 10 years since I last read it, but I believe they actually get captured by the Wood Elves and held in the city for awhile. The Wood Elves aren't all that friendly in the Hobbit. And yeah, Frodo is born something like 20-30 years after the events of the Hobbit. I might be way off on that, but he's most certainly not born at the time. Frodo is something like 30 in LOTR, Bilbo is 111, and I believe Bilbo's adventures happened when he was 50-60. Fuckers, now I have to go google this shit. Aha: Timeline of Arda - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia June 22, 2942 - Bilbo Baggins returns to Bag End September 22, 2968 - Frodo Baggins is born Last edited by Eomer; 03-26-2008 at 09:38 AM.. |

So it wouldn't be a stretch to have Legolas show up. For a more subversive version, you could get Orlando Bloom to play Thranduil himself (i.e. his own father from the role he played in LoTR)... just cause elves are creepy that way ![]()

IIRC, Frodo was even in his triple digits in LotR

Frodo was born in 2968 and Bilbo gave him the ring in 3001. So, during the time-period the trilogy takes place, Frodo was in his 30s. EDIT: Forgot the war for the ring didn't start till years after Frodo received the ring. The war started in 3018ish, so Frodo was in his 50s.

+2 Internets | 33 is when Hobbit's "come of age." They consider the twenties to be too irresponsible. And the movie already sort of messed it up as Thorpe said. Frodo receives the ring, and then Gandalf disappears for like 10 years in the book, rather than just a few days in the movie.
