I still would vote for a de-aged Ian Holm, my love for Willow Ufgood not withstanding.

Looks like Sam Raimi has been confirmed as Director of The Hobbit, and Peter Jackson still Executive Producer due to his busy schedule. I have faith in Sam Raimi and Jackson's guidance (not that Raimi needs guidance to make a good movie, but I'm hoping Jackson's advice can help make the worlds of Jackson's LoTR and Raimi's Hobbit feel like the same world, without too many differences in cinematography and the like).

So we're gonna get a nice campy version of Middle-Earth? Sweet.

Also looking forward to the Bruce Cambell cameo.

Proof? I'm still holding out hope for Guillermo del Toro, I really don't want to see Raimi direct The Hobbit.

I don't need the Pale Man in Middle Earth. I'd rather have Raimi, honestly.

Having Raimi for that scene when the arrow goes into Smog will be epic arrow cam work.

I wonder where they'll find an American flag for Bilbo to pause in front of. At least we might see Bruce Campbell in the film somewhere.

Sam Raimi has made great movies for over 20 fucking years. just cuz spiderman 3 was all emo doesnt mean he cant make movies anymore. and spiderman 3 was only bad scriptwise, and its a 3rd movie in a series so its expected that shit is wearing thin. Raimi still has awesome cinematography in his films and all he has to do is moderately adapt the book into a screenplay for a win win. I can easily see Bruce Campbell as Bard or madeup or voiced as the goblin king.

He could also play Beorn or the King of Laketown.

Bruce Campbell as Beorn could potentially be sheer awesome, so long as he's playing Beorn and not Bruce Campbell. Fine, he can play Bruce Campbell.
