| To the person who said the 1977 Bass & Rankin Hobbit isnt that bad. i agree but it isnt what i would call great cinema either. the best part is the Smaug animations. I dunno if i can post links to these sites, but if not please delete this Watch The Hobbit (1977) Online Free see for yourself how not bad it is. If you are a fan of south park you will get a huge kick out of the great adventure song. Lemmiwinks!!! |

+25 Internets | I don't have any trouble beleiving that he won't direct. Seems like he's been moving more into the producing side since King Kong, and he's probably able to get more of the projects he wants done that way. |

Gandalf disappears twice during the quest of Bilbo and the Dwarfs — once to scout their path, the second time to "attend to other pressing business", the nature of which he refused to discuss. There are also repeated references to "the necromancer" resurging in the north which is commonly believed to refer to Sauron, or possibly the Witch King in his stead. It is also said he befriended Aragorn during this time. After the Battle of the Five Armies, it is said that the White Council had attacked Dol Guldur and driven the Necromancer from it.. thus explaining Gandalfs repeated absence during "the Hobbit". So with a bit of reshuffling, you could likely do a second movie working up to the Battle of Dol Guldur, White Council (incl. Aragorn?, possibly Thranduil or even his son Legolas?) against some dark sorcerer/necromancer (who may or may not be Sauron or the Witch King). Or you could keep the timelines parallel and jump between them, running both climax in the second movie.. Also, a lot of little things happend. Saruman got corrupted, the elven rings where passed on (including Narya going to Gandalf), etc.., etc.. I don't think they'll be short on material to work with.

Here's a timeline of events bridging the gap between the Hobbit and the LotR. I bolded a few items that look like they might appear in the movie. Quote:
Another possibility is that they'll follow Gollum's travels after losing the ring. Last edited by MorinkhanMT; 12-20-2007 at 07:36 AM.. | ||

+8 Internets | Battle of Moria FTW. I don't want Aragorn back in the story if they aren't going to bring Viggo back. If McKellen is going to come back, I wouldn't care if the entire movie was following around Gandalf. Quote: EDIT: So Who Will Direct "The Hobbit"? (December 20th 2007)
