UNDISPUTED - Technical Review

This movie has to have the most realistic fighting sequences I have yet seen.

True, in real life the ratio of punches landed to not landed wont be so high but for cinematic reasons, that has to happen.

Both fighters were extremely realistic in their respective roles.

...

To anyone who has competed seriously as a boxer, the idea of Ving Rhames and Wesley Snipes prison boxing is completely ridiculous.

if your refering to weight classes, prison boxing is much looser on weight requirements when matching up oponents and has differant rules compared to pro.

they also arent that far apart, snipes may be thinner but is well muscled and would fall into the heavy weight division, though on the low end of the requirements.

i could think of similar disparitys in pro boxing; looks can be decieving especially in the heavy weight division which has the widest range of size allowance.

if your not refering to the weight differance between them than what exactly is so "completely ridiculous"?

snipes FYI is well trained in both boxing and martial arts IRL

I agree completely. I have no clue what he felt was so ridiculous. As I mentioned above, I box as well as do other martial arts, and I felt is was completely beleivable. I can only assume that he has done nothing himself.

I just watched that movie. The announcer of the last fight said Snipes was "199" and Rames was "205." Uh-huh.

Snipes, though possessed of a nice bod , was more like 185, and Rames was at least 230-240.

Well, I did not hear the actual weights used but it would be irrelevent for two reasons:

a) Those penal institutions that have boxing programs do not have weight classes, and

b) Even in professional boxing, both of them would be considered heavyweights.

I admit I don't know much about boxing, but 185 sounded really low for "heavyweight", so I looked it up. Under 190 is cruiserweight.

I guess if they don't have weight classes at all it doesn't matter, but calling them 5 pounds apart when Snipes obviously weighed less than one of Rhames' legs was odd. It gave the movie a 'now wait a minute...' moment. I hate 'now wait a minute...' moments.

snipes looks heavier than that to me. when i was wrestling i weighed in around 230 and im shorter and wasnt anywhere near as defined as he is. muscle weighs more than fat; my best friend was built like snipes and wieghed in over 250; but he was taller than snipes by a couple inches.

i dont think they weighed the actors for those numbers at all, it was probably already written into the script and not changed to compensate.
