I agree with a lot of your picks, but I think your first statement is a little out of touch. Personally I don't go in to any Jackie Chan movie (as an example) looking for deep story. And keep in mind I'm talking about his older stuff here, not the newer american movies. I go in to it for the action, and if it has a story to go along with it, then hey, that's a bonus.
I don't look at all martial arts movies this way, I'm just saying on a general basis, when I hear about a Jackie Chan or Michelle Yeow movie I don't think, "oh LORD INC great story!" I wonder what kind of fights they get in.
Oh well, to each their own.
btw I still haven't seen any of the Once Upon a Time in Chin series yet. Is it really worth all the talk I hear about it? Opinions please!
Edit: spelling (spelled his name Chain twice argh) |
I don't go to JC or MY movies for the story, I go to them for the kick ass fights. It's just that the fights in most american movies SUCK ASS compared to HK or Japanese Movies.
HK movies work 3 months on the fights and 1 week on the story, American Movies work 3 months on the story and 1 week on the fights (more or less what Jacky Chan said)
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is a HK production, with HK actors, HK director and most of all HK Fight Choreographer.
