| speaking of Dumas... I have lost all hope for Hollywood making a half-way decent movie of a Dumas novel after they made D'artagnan the father of Louis XIV in The Man in the Iron Mask. For the next week, I felt like torturing everyone I would come in contact with. I don't even get it really -- these books are some of the best historical novels of all time, but Hollywood feels that it can make the storyline better by making MAJOR FUCKING CHANGES in the plot. I could feel Dumas turning in his grave everytime Hollywood releases another version of 3 Musketeers or Count of Monte Cristo. *breaths deeply* I need a drink. |

+1 Internets | Actually, the last Count of Monte Cristo was very good. I'm not sure how it weighs in compared to the book, but the movie itself was very good.

| Searyx, it's not even in the same realm as the book. And not because it wasn't done well, but because the movie changes major events in the plot in an attempt to make it more dramatic or some shit. The fact that there's a reason why the book is as popular as it is in the first place escapes these low-life directors. Think of how you would feel if Jackson would change major events in LoTR to his liking. Pissed off beyond belief, right? That's presicely how I feel everytime I see a new version of a Dumas novel. The only 2 versions in cinematic history that are worth a damn are the russian version of 3 Musketeers and the french version of Queen Margot. |
