| You do not need "acting" to play Thor, he's a norse god FFS. You need a viking looking guy with that animalistic charisma. Craig Daniel or Brad Pitt would have that "animalistic charisma" but they are just too small. What we need is a "New Dolf Lundgren" ![]() |

+69 Internets | Total derail, but did you know that Dolph Lundgren has a Masters Degree in chemical engineering and was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to MIT? Who the fuck would have known that looking at Ivan Drago? I also went and re-watched Iron Man and it does look like Caps shield. Those pictures really don't do it justice. I won't say it certainly is, but it sure looks like it. |

+4 Internets | I agree that someone like Robert Redford or Paul Newman would have been awesome as Captain America. So would Clint Eastwood, in my opinion at least. They are all far too old now though obviously. I'd go for Pitt as Cap easily, particularly if they picked someone like Vladimir Kulich for Thor. However, if we put Pitt as Thor, or he just doesn't want to do any of these movies, and someone like Matt Damon or Bruce Willis doesn't want the job (I like both of them for it) my pick for Cap would be someone like Mark Wahlberg or Billy Zane. Don't laugh. Remember, they have to look good in a mask similar to Batman's, and have a strong personality, which I think they both have. They are decent actors without demanding absolute top salary, so I think could work well in something like Captain America. They both also have the potential to be muscular enough for the role. And Gary Oldman needs to be Dr. Strange, period. |

| Rerail: Finally saw the movie last night. Pretty great as superhero movies go. The scenes between Stark and Pepper were the best, hands down. I didn't know Gwyneth Paltrow had that kind of timing-- I always thought of her as just another lame dramatic actress. I think the chemistry with Robert Downey Jr probably helped that a lot. He seems like the kind of actor that can make other actors step up their game, just to keep up with him. Terrence Howard was great, and Jeff Bridges in the first role I didn't hate him in, ever (including The Big Lebowski. I know it's some underground cult phenomenon, but I hated it mostly because of him). Wasn't crazy about the hints about The Avengers at the end, mostly because they've got a cool thing going and it seems lame to mix a bunch of superheroes into it. (Yes, yes I know that his comic book character comes from that world. But as a movie character, they've got a great thing going with him alone. Like if they threw Superman into the upcoming Batman movie. Just picture that. It would wreck the whole concept. Iron Man was good enough that I feel the same way about it. I'd rather see more of him alone before they mix it with the rest of the Marvel universe.) |

+3 Internets | why would you have a 50+ year old guy like Kulich for Thor ..i seriously do not get why some people have this obsession over him for Thor just because he had long blonde hair in a movie once. Next thing you know you guys want Orlando Bloom for Thor because he had long blonde hair in LoTR. Thor is a Norse GOD. He has to look near flawless and younger then 50. He has the same problem as cap...eons of wisdom but it's hard for people to look past his youthful appearance. Next to that Thor needs a certain cockyness, and sometimes a carelessness when he plunges himself into battle. |

| You do realize that both Marvel and DC are building up momentum so that they can make an Avengers and a JLA movie, right? I am thinking that the day is gone when we are just going to be getting solo superhero movies. |

| Yeah. Honestly, Christopher Nolan's Batman is a character I can't picture in any other movie but his own. Iron Man I can definitely see on a team, he has that personality that'd be good for it (at least when Downey Jr plays him). If the movie is The Avengers then yeah, he's gotta be there. But if it's Iron Man 2, I'd rather it just be him. |
