Damon hardly seems charismatic enough to me.

Cap was always my favorite comic book character but I'll be darned if I can really think of someone who would be perfect for the part. The only person that comes to mind, and I'm not totally sold on him, is Matthew McConaughey.

IMO the alternate universe thing should be used to avoid publicity bullshit like that, killing off heroes as an excuse for foil embossed holographic die cut covers.
They killed him in the canon universe. He's alive in Ultimate Marvel.

I really liked him even more after his stand in Civil War. Ironman's actions however are up for biggest douche sellout moment in history.

*Gag*

Must just be the douche vibe the guy radiates, but I'll admit Cap would be hard to cast well for.

Just for a name, Chris O'Donnell?

Yes he played Robin, including nipples, but he would be a good cast for clean-cut, all-American image, though maybe not as a seasoned, older Captain America.

Chris O'Donnell? Sorry but I have to hugely disagree. Capt' has this old, wise thing going on. He's been through hell in every war the US has had. He's been around and seen the shit. He needs to have that grizzled, seasoned look while still looking like he can throw down with the youngest and best of them. O'Donnell is still wet behind the ears.

Having the guy that played Robin going to playing one of the oldest and most respected Marvel characters has bad idea written all over it with permanent marker.

Brad Beyer would look good as Captain America, but I'm not an expert on acting ability. He plays on Jericho, a TV series on CBS. I think he does really well, and he is relatively unknown. Isn't Captain America young again in the Ultimate universe?

That's what I mean though, using the alternate universe thing as an excuse to make sweeping changes purely to sell comics. Because they have an alternate universe they are comfortable killing him off in the canon. I think it's a good idea if they use it to retell some of the dated stories or renew interest in the heroes, because that can translate back to the canon universe. Whatever, maybe I'm not making myself very clear, no sleep the past few days, but in my head it makes sense.

Stephen Colbert for Capt. America!

Anyway, liked the movie. I'm a sucker for most of the Marvel movies and other superhero movies, and I really dig the Marvel universe. But I was never heavily into comics other than reading Heavy Metal and other graphic novels in high school and earlier in middle school I was reading Marvel stuff for a while until I decided that there were other things I would prefer my parents bought me. I was getting into Iron Man at that time though (this was like back in the '80s) and I recall the guy in the suit in the issues I was reading being black. So was Tony's friend in the airforce supposed to be the guy I remember being in the suit in those issues? Does he end up in a suit of his own, or take over for Tony at some point temporarily or permanently?

Do you really want Captain America to be fucking ugly?

Rhodes does take over the Iron Man suit occasionally and as said, he had his own suit as War Machine as well.

well it's not like he's going to stay dead in the 616 universe. no one ever stays dead in comics.
