Since the first thread should be called "Is it ok to spank your child?" I started one that actually deals with MOVIES. Currently i wish i could just buy a new movie instead of having to go to a *shudder* movie theatre to watch it. At home i can relax on the couch, get nice digital sound with a 46" big screen. Pretty much the same quality as a theatre (im not picky about THX and all that bullshiat that the normal ear cant even tell the difference) So what could movie theatres do to not suck so much and make me want to go and actually "enjoy" a movie? 1) NO @#$%!ing FOOD. I dont want to hear some fat #!@$ chomping his nachos or popcorn during a movie because he cant wait 2 god damn hours to put food in his mouth! 2) MORE LEG ROOM! I have bad knees. If i dont sit in the isle seat so i can stretch my legs out i'm uncomforable for the whole movie. 3) If the theatre is less than 1/3 full it should be illegal to sit infront of someone else. Find another SEAT! 4) DONT TALK DURING THE MOVIE! No damn comments everytime something interesting happens. "Wow", "didnt expect that" "Haha good one" "That must of hurt"... STFU!! And explaining the whole movie to the person you are with is just rediculous. Non stop blabing. 5) TURN DOWN THE VOLUME. If everyone adheres to rule 4 then there should be no reason to blow my eardrums and explode my brain during an action sequence. During the car chace in Ronin i thought my eardrums would actually pop and blood would start running out. The car tire screeching was so loud it was ridiculous. 6) After the movie starts they should close the doors!. I dont want 10 rowdy people walking in halfway into a movie and disrupting the mood. 7) If i purchace a ticket to a movie then no more tickets shall be sold to that showing. The movie is officially sold out. :P j/k

NO FOOD? Movies make a killing on those overpriced snacks. I don't think they will be giving that up soon. TOO LOUD? Movies only have two ways to reach their audiences, sight and sound. So when an action sequence arises they blast the explosions to try and make the experience almost tactile (rumbling and shaking) to enhance the senstation of being overwhelmed. Major reason why movies lose a lot when they come to video. So this too probably wont change unless they start to hit ear damaging decible levels.

what does the theatre making money have to do with how i enjoy a movie? I never said these were reasonable suggestions. I'm saying if these things happened i would enjoy going out to a movie more over staying at home and watching a DVD.

hoho yeah make more space to your legs. many ppl smack their feet/legs upon the seats in front of em to sit more comfortable and relax. should have it that way without worrying if the actual seat down in front of u is taken by another.

| It must depend on the theater. Sound is rarely too loud, and I have plenty of extra leg room at 6'0". As for the "No Food" bit? FUCK YOU! ![]() No one is robbin' me of mah food! GET IN MAH BELLY!

Maybe it has to do with me being a teenager, but I like the whole movie experience. Nothing like getting 20 people together, arguing over what movie to see at what time, getting everyone in a car, then finally getting there. OF course, once the movie starts girls always go to the bathroom in groups of 2s and 3s, guys sit there and drool over them instead of the movie, etc... Really, that type of thing is only fun when its a movie you dont have to watch too closely, like XXX or something similar. If I'm going to see a movie more about the plot, then I just go during the day. No crowds, cheaper tickets. whats not to like. If you odn't like crowds and annoying people, I reccomend going to daytime shows.
