This movie deserved 100% on RT. They did not skimp out on anything, it truly embraced the essence of Batman and the Joker, and the entire city caught in between.

The kicker is, that your perception of the Joker in this movie is a real tell-all of your world views. Watch this movie and examine what he really does in this movie and ask yourself, have you become numb to the idea of this? All of the insanity, violence, turn-arounds, betrayals, lies, and corruption. Everything idea is visited by Heath Ledger's Joker at least twice in what he says and does. Did you even notice the difference, or has the expectation become that everything will end up twisted the next go 'round?

There's so much you can say about this movie, the plot, the cast, the action, the setups, the lines. But it comes down to the fact that you should See This Movie.

Heath was awe-inspiring, probably the best villain performance I've ever seen.

wow. Just wow!

I had to actually try to think of gripes... And I only came up with 2 things that I thought was silly, but still fits in well with the movie.

I have hyped this movie up in my own mind for over 2 years, and did not leave that theater disappointed. It has exceeded my expectations..

Stupidly, I had 2 beers and a big ol' thing of mt. dew before the movie, so half my attention was focused on bladder control.

I can't even begin to overstate how great this movie was. It may be the best film I've ever seen...certainly in the last few years. I can't believe Ledger is gone...besides the obvious personal reasons, its sad to think how much more he would've had ahead of him, even if he never played Joker again. The performance was so good it may have stood alone even if he got the chance to do a lifetime more roles.

How any film critic on RT could rate this negatively is beyond me. Some of the bs they wrote makes me wonder what in the world they were actually hoping to see. Epic.

Heath may have played the best role of a bad guy ever to grace the silver screen. It's a shame he died, not because of the loss of his life, but because i am forever robbed of another chance of seeing him play the Joker again in a sequel.

I'll be seeing this again, soon.

Movie was definitely legendary, no other way to put it. In spoiler news:

Sad that now we don't have two-face or the joker as a villain for the next movie

Yeah, movie was awesome, definitely worth the ticket price and then some more.

Me and my buddies were trying to speculate on who the next villain would be if they made another movie. Also, definitely think Heath deserves a nomination for his acting, IDK who he's competing with (think he's considered 'best supporting actor') for his performance.

Heath Ledger didn't die on accident, he killed himself because he knew the level of epicness that is The Dark Knight could only be obtained once in a lifetime.

Just got back from the midnight showing. Lots of twisted humor, I was laughing quite a bit more than the rest of the audience over the more morbid humor. Like a christmas tree.

First things first, amazing movie. I second every good thing said so far in the thread.

Second...

Two things, one is I really don't think that two-face is dead. He could very easily be brought back.

As for the next villains. I think there are a few choices. One is the Riddler, a very updated Riddler could work very well with the dark tone that this Batman series has done. Bane could also be a main or secondary villain. You could also easily explain bringing back Two-face and/or Ra's Ah Ghul.

I think staying away from Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy and any villain that would require a lot of CG would be a very good plan of action. These movies have been so good sans a ton of CG crap.

That's my take on it. If they found the right actor I might be persuaded to accept the Penguin, but as a general rule I think that'd be a bad idea.

We were talking about that on the car ride home.. Wasn't that at the very end, a memorial for the death of Harvey Dent? Which I just kind of assumed meant he was already buried. *shrug*

As far as villains, Nolan said Penguin would not be in it because he is not realistic enough. Which I kind of think is hogwash due to the fact that he was very realistic. He smoked and wore a top hat and was a massive weapons dealer. Just don't do what Burton or TAS did!

It's a comic book movie. Unless you get like full on decapitated (and they show your head roll around), you aren't necessarily dead.

Remember, he has to be a symbol, if that meant saying he was dead while locking him away, that is what Batman and Gordon would do.

I don't think a memorial or a few cuts of him looking dead really settles it one way or another.

They made a point that it was the end of the Harvey Dent they knew, the defender of justice. A public memorial like that could be held as something symbolic for Harvey Dent, while the clearly psychotic Two Face is shipped off to the asylum as another loony
