+7 Internets | I think this is really all Astrocreep has issue with. I've seen a LOT of people saying this recently. The movie isn't even fucking OUT yet, and people are saying that Ledger is better. You don't know that. You can't. Sure, there's a metric fuck-ton of trailers to watch, but you can't take that as fact. How many times have we seen trailers that end up being very misleading? I don't agree with all of Astrocreep's opinions, but you all keep calling him the "worst movie critic ever". Do you even understand how stupid that is? He just gives his opinions, backed up with examples, and says how that affected his movie experience. Just because you 100% disagree, doesn't make him the worst critic ever. Someone who flung shit and drew stick figures with it as their review would be much worse. At least he's logical about his points, which is better than 90% of you fucksticks. Now, that said, they had better NOT kill off the Joker, as it was my only gripe in the first movie. The Joker's one, and only, consistant "power" has been his ability to surive the impossible and always come back. If they killed him again, I'd be pretty pissed.

+7 Internets | I thought the more gritty, and frankly scary Penguin that DeVito played was much, much better than the mincing poof that Burgess Meredith was (though the laugh was great, and of course DeVito kept that). Not to mention that the musical score in Batman Returns was fuckin' epic. Basically, I'm pro Burton.

| Unfortunately, Heath Ledger, if his performance is good, cannot come back to round 2 and I dont see how they can get away with not killing him, unless its a copy-cat to take his place and not butchering the story. I'm also assuming two-face is the main villain for part 3 anyway with a new one being made note of for #4 and so on if they go that far. |

+19 Internets | I liked the Penguin, I thought DeVito really did a great job. The whole movie was great, but very distinctly Burton. I think you'll find the same people who don't like Burton's other movies also don't like Batman Returns. As far as whether or not you can say if Nicholson was better than Ledger, clearly no, we haven't seen the movie yet. I just know from the atmosphere, and the angle that they are approaching the Joker from, I really prefer the new one over the old. I thought the whole Cesar Romero Joker thing was gay, I never liked it. Nicholson was pretty obviously playing off that. It's just a matter of taste, the style of the new movies appeals to me more than that type of a villain does. Doesn't mean I wouldn't totally do Jack, he is one of the best actors ever. I simply do not prefer his Joker. edit: but, like I said, I don't think they should even be compared really. Each stands on it's own and all that. Burton's Batman will always be classic, new Batman doesn't take away from that. Last edited by chaos : 06-11-2008 at 12:34 PM. |

I liked Romero's batman, tho he didnt shave his mustache when he wore the makeup and it made his role look less genuine, i liked the over the top style in which he portrayed Joker and of course he had those awesome colored outfits. | |

+2 Internets | You don't have to kill the Joker in order for him to not be in another movie. It's just like the comics...you lock him back up in Arkham Asylum so that he's still a lingering threat. There are plenty of other bad guys to make movies with. I hate when comic-based movies kill the bad guy 'just cuz'. |
