Amazing. I'm not a white skinny kid anymore! Lets see how that flies in the Bronx.

I certainly wouldn't call him "crazy". Deranged? Massive Sociopath? Yea sure, but he was far too together to be a downright loon.

Biggest lie in the entire movie was:

The Joker saying "do I look like a guy with a plan?"

I really liked it, thought it improved on Begins, which was a solid reworking of a played out franchise.

The fact that this movie was much better than the first, despite being stylistically fairly similar, highlights the fact that good comic book movies are made with villains, not heroes. I loved Ledger's Joker, and would put this movie right up there with the first Burton Batman as one of the best comic book movies out there.

With that said, it wasn't a 10/10 film. There were flaws. It was too long (there's something to be said for keeping a movie around 2 hours unless you've got some absurdly epic source material like LOTR or something.) Female lead was a total wet blanket...I dunno. It had it's issues, but was still a very good movie, and I agree that Ledger did an amazing job. (Not so sure about the best actor nod, but I guess Hopkins got it for 15 minutes of screen time in Silence of the Lambs, so what do I know.)

Don't think Ledge would be in line for Best Actor, it's almost definite that it would be Best Supporting Actor.

That said, the movie didn't really feel like it had a main star. Batman is split between Batman and Bruce Wayne, and even put together he doesn't really feel like he's the star of the movie. I would say that Dent is more like the star since just about everything in the movie revolves around him.

That's not entirely crazy. As far as he's concerned, they're just risking their lives unnecessarily, and the ones in the movie were definitely trying to kill, which is a no-no for the Batman. But another reason for taking the fall is what the Italian was talking about: his one rule. If people suddenly think Batman will actually kill them, they're that much more scared of him. This enabled him to give that impression without actually killing them.

Bah. Already beaten, by a lot.

Nah..
Bale probably thought his family were disguised killer robots sent from the future to stop him before he films Batman 3. Either that, or they just got themselves some damn nice business cards. Really no choice but to pwn them gun-kata style...

I can't agree with it being too long. They couldn't have done what they did in under 2 hours. It would have severely degraded the quality of the film. This is also one of the few movies that I did lose all track of time in. I was engrossed from the first minute on and did not want the movie to end.

I imagined more like -

WHERE'S THE COOKIES?!

I'll tell you, and that's the point. You'll only have time to eat one of them.

WHERE ARE THEY?!

The jar of chocolate chip is in the attic buried with the old photos, and the oatmeal is in the basement behind the water heater...

(sister): Which are you going for?

THE OATMEAL!

If he wants the oatmeal, he should go after the chocolate.

/Filmcast Ep. 9: The Dark Knight (GUEST: Kevin Smith) | /Film

The link has a half-hour long interview with kevin smith about the batman sequel, and the franchises future.

For anyone that remotely enjoys Kevin Smith's take on films, it is definitely worth a listen.

I'm not sure how well this fact is know, but he named his daughter Harley Quinn, so obviously he is a bit of a fan of the batman series.

Unfortunately he'll reach the basement to find the chocolate chips half melted from the water heater. =(

About the scar questions above:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Yea the Joker gave 2 different scar stories in the movie which threw me for a little loop and either he was making up those stories or they were true. Personally, I thought that both were true and that both happened. I thought that his dad had cut his face and said why so serious, and later on he put a razor in his mouth and that cut up his tongue and his lips. That would account for why he is always licking and why he had scars/cuts on his lips and tongue too. If his dad just cut his cheeks he prob would not have these scars on his lips/tongue. The father story was way more shocking than the razor story too.
