What is the most INTENSE movie scene you can think of?

By intense, I don't mean scary, nor suspensful. What I mean is the scenes which make you sit up and cheer, make you sit back and go "Wow...", or stand up and say "JESUS!". You know? INTENSE.

For instance, when Rob Roy cuts Archibald Cunningham from shoulderblade to heart.

The most intense film moment in recent memory that I can think of is from L.A. Confidential. The scene where Russell Crowe's character puts a gun in a rapist's mouth and says... well hell, see the scene for yourself!

Right Click Here and select "Save Target As..." to download L.A. Confidential.divx

Statistics: 2min, 30sec long | 7.7mb in size | Encoded with DivxPro 5.02 at 312kb per sec, 2-pass | Audio Encoded with MPEG-3 Layer at 48khz, 96kbits, Stereo | Dimensions are 564x240 (2.35:1 Widescreen) |

If you're only getting the audio, Click And Run This Patch.

Scenes

"No, I am your father" in ESB was an OMG moment.

The first time I saw the night club scene of Blade and the lobby scene of The Matrix were WOW moments.

In Aliens when the pressure door opens on the Sulaco and Ripley comes walking out in the lifter was a stand up and cheer moment, as was Yoda coming around the corner and igniting his lightsaber in AOTC (though I know you disagree).

And, for me, I like the hit in the Boondock Saints where the twins fall through the ceiling and, as they rotate, dangling from a rope, shoot all the mobsters . I dunno if that's exactly what you mean by "intense", but that certainly made me go "holy jesus !"

The build-up to the murder in Heavenly Creatures was almost unbearable.
Knowing what was coming didn't help!

The last scene of "Easy Rider".

Shower scene of the original "Pshyco".

The battle in Balin's Tomb in LOTR.

Ishalim02? You're getting dangerously close to becoming a stalker.

Just because I tore you a new asshole a few weeks back doesn't mean you have to follow me around like a masochistic puppy.

RE: Bud White losing it...

The whole build up... the way you can see him start shaking to his tearing the chair apart with his bare hands...

"Where is the girl?!?"

Click... Click...

Yeah... I'll give props to the intensity of that scene...

That, and when the DA says "Don't even try the good cop/bad cop routine with me... I practically invented it..."

FLUSH!

The opening scene and the follow up in Swordfish. Though sadistic, that scene was BRILLIANT.

The opening battle in Saving Private Ryan. That's intense, because it actually happened (maybe not exactly the same, but reasonably close).

Matrix Lobby Shootout, first 30 min of Saving Private Ryan and the Swordfish Opening Explosion Defintley.

During Matrix Shootout I was jumping up and down like a little girl..

SwordFish I was pressed so hard into my chair it hurt, plus only real time a Audience in a movie theatre just started all clapping for a action sequence...

And Saving Private Ryan was so damn intense I had to go to the bathroom and felt like i was going to get sick. But I still saw it 3 times in theatres so i didnt miss anything.

Reservoir Dogs -- the whole movie really but the final standoff was pretty intense to me.

Apocalypse Now -- again pretty intense throughout but the final portion of the ritual slaying (which apparently was an actual ritual -- imagine animal right's groups these days)

Yep.

Beach scene too at Saving Private Ryan and finally, yes, the fight from LOTR in the mountain caves fighting orcs. The scene Im referring to is where Legolas pierces an orc in the head with an arrow and afterwards uses it with the bow

The ending sequence of Requiem For a Dream gets my vote for the most intense and powerful sequence ever. More than half of my female friends can't even sit through it; they cover their eyes and run away, or start weaping uncontrollably. Aronofsky's directing is pure genius, and accompanied by the incredibly intense music of Kronos Quartet -- truly phenominal work.

The execution of William Wallace's wife in Braveheart... Hell, the execution of William Wallace himself wasn't as shocking.

The scene in Chasing Amy where Holden confesses his love for Alyssa in the car, then she runs out and tells him off in the pouring rain, then runs back into his arms. Also, the scene where Holden asks Alyssa and Banky to have a threesome, and Alyssa cries as she responds.

The scene where Lester is shot in American Beauty.

There are more...
