Best/Worst/Missing Sequels

I don't remember a thread for this... I was watching The Last Starfighter (twice) today and could not help thinking about it.

Best:

1. Aliens - Perfection in my book, took one of the best horror movies ever and turned it into the best action/sci-fi movie, and sequel, of all-time.
2. The Empire Strikes Back - Obviously.
3. Terminator 2: Judgment Day - The first was James Cameron's break-through, here he took it up a few notches.
4. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan - Best in the series.
5. Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn - As Barry put it, "Because it's so funny, and violent, and the soundtrack kicks fucking ass."

Worst (i.e. should never have been made):

1. Alien 3/Alien: Resurrection - Horrible stories, effects, and just the opposite of every reason Aliens was the best.
2. Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines - Sadly, but I'm making this prediction now.
3. Speed 2: Cruise Control - Plain boring. Great camera work too, Jan, almost got me sick.
4. Batman & Robin: What was Joel Schumacher thinking?
5. Beverly Hills Cop 3 - I don't think I laughed once.

Missing:

The Last Starfighter - Am I the only person that loves this movie? They left it open for a sequel, why didn't it ever happen? It would kick ass with today's visual effects. Wasn't this also like the first movie to ever use CGI? I'd love to see this.

Uh... Alien 3 owns Aliens any day a few times over: It had flair, horror, and that nice gritty feel of being hunted by the ultimate killing machine of the universe!

Aliens reduced Gigers "the perfect Organism" to a simple shoot-em-up target... the absolute worst movie since the invention of science fiction.

Alien 1 reigns surpreme....

Good:
Austin Powers 2

Bad:
MIB II, even shittier than the first! How that was possible I have no idea.
Scary Movie 2 ...wtf
I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scary Scream 2/3 or whatever it was called, they sucked so bad i cant even remember their titles
Substitute 2,3,4 Can't do sequals without Tom Berenger in it =/

Missing:
Baseketball 2: Da Beers ...or something =/

Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged me. The first one was just alright, the second was hysterical. Goldmember was an "eh".

Lethal Weapon 2, 3 and 4 all rocked, especially 4.

Die Hard 2, and Die Hard With a Vengeance.

Two Towers and/or Return of the King will most likely be in this category too.

Worst:

Scary movie 2. The first one was funny, and pretty original with all the teeny horror movies spoofs. The second one was the same thing rehashed all over, just a lot less funny.

All of the Disney sequels

Missing:

Clerks. Come on, I know all of you are dying to find out what Dante and Randall have been up to for the past 10 years!

The Big Lebowski. I just wanna hear Walter rant about Vietnam some more.

Dante gets shot and dies in a robery shortly after the last scene in the 'cut' version of the film...

However, that scene was removed from the movie because smith though it made the ending too dark. After seeing it, it was dark... it was a simple scene... man enters, doesn't even engage dante...shoots him, dante falls...he takes money from the register and leaves...the camera focuses on the door as he leaves and for another 30 seconds after and then it rolls credits.

I'm not sure if you want to call it a 'sequel,' per se, but The Silence of the Lambs was far superior to Manhunter. Both were great flicks, though.

I'll also second the Godfather II mention. Many people consider it better than the original. For my money, the two are probably equal.

Did you just say Aliens 3 is better than Aliens, and that Aliens sucks? I mean, everyone is entitled to their opinions, but you may have to repeat that because I can't believe my fucking eyes.

How can you be scared of an Alien that looks completely fake, that is hunting people you could care less about, that only exists because some idiot wrote a few holes into a screenplay just to get a movie made? I can see you feeling this way about Alien, cause it did scare the shit out of you and me both, but I don't know what Alien 3 you watched.

That was just a mild personal attack and all in good fun, don't ban me and close the thread.
