| "Borderline Personality Disorder" is a psychological condition, wherein the person affected views the world and him/herself in absolutes. People are either "good" or "evil;" situations are either "great," "normal," or "hopeless," etc. It also comes with a host of social phobias and dysfunctions. Depression and suicide attempts are frequent consequences of BPD. Someone with BPD may seem outwardly normal, if a bit shy and reserved. But given enough time, their behaviors eventually will reveal their condition. The name itself has nothing to do with being on the "borderline" of anything in particular. It was selected simply to describe how one's sense of self is always in flux when suffering from the disorder.
