| I was like 6 when the movie came out and those yellow eyes that the owl and nicodemus had gave me nightmares for a strait year, watership down was also a warped ass flick that scared my fragile little mind. |

+16 Internets | It's actually the first movie I ever saw in a theatre as far as I remember... that added to the scary factor a lot :P I saw some part of it when it was on tv a year or so ago and it aged pretty well. The owl, Nicodemus writing in gold dust... many good sequences. Now, I have to say this, sorry, I would not classify all the japanese animated movies and tv series as "retarded" as you put it. Like in all such wide gathering of products there are good and bad things (same goes with the american or european animated productions). Labeling them all as "retarded" will just make you miss some great movies, especially, since you quoted a movie targeted at children, the works of the Studio Gibli (My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Spirited Away, etc...). Again, like I said in other posts, I really encourage you to drop all pre-conceived ideas and try to explore and discover movies you would not consider at first. At worst you don't like it and you actually know why because you saw it with your own eyes and at best you enjoy it and explore further into an area, a genre, a technique, etc...

| Secret of Nimh was a great, great movie. Tough to call it the best, though, when there are so many contenders, like Watership Down and LotR, just to name a couple. But, then again, I have always had a hard time putting absolute rankings on movies. Bottom line is that it is well rendered, and has a great plot (and doesnt have sappy songs). |

+6 Internets | The movie is definetly a good cartoon, I think I saw it in the 3rd grade for the first time. They showed it in class and all the girls were scared after the movie was over .You can basically sum the movie up in this phrase, "The Secret of Nimh is the win" . |

| Watership down is so disturbing! I couldn't even get myself to finish watching the thing...it was like, a war movie with bunnies or something! I don't really remember much about it I saw it so long ago, I just remember the bunnies like, killing each other or something. So maybe I should go rent it sometime and give it a chance, if people are saying it's so good. I've never seen this Nihm movie either, so I should check that out too eh? I'm not a big fan of cartoons, only anime for me. But yeah, while im a huge anime fan, we REALLY don't need another anime thread on this board =P |

Best cartoon that, as fas as I know, has never been released on video / DVD for about 20 years is "Black Cauldron" (i think it's the original name, the german name was " Taran und der Zauberkessel" It's an awsome fantasy cartoon by the disney studios I think. Too bad I have never seen it since... ![]() edit: YES IT HAS BEEN RELEASED!!! FINALY! http://www.dvd.com/product_movies.as...uctnumber=7332 Last edited by Vogue Sugarpop : 08-08-2002 at 05:09 AM. |
