Very much in agreeance.

Haven't seen the movie yet, but that's the vibe I'm getting from people who have seen it.
Sorta. It's a bit more like Return of the Jedi with Empire Strikes Back's ending.

I hated the ending, and I knew going in they had filmed most of the third movie already. Even with that in mind, I couldn't stand how the movie ended.

You saw me kissing him, I get it.. no no no.. see this is what happened' Instead, Elizabeth will get pissed at Will for not trusting her or some other bullshit.
I have a bad feeling that this is going to play out in the last film, and if it does, God will it suck.

Loved the original. Found the sequel tedious and Depp's character seemed incredibly forced in comparison with the natural and slickness presented in the original.

I'm actually very surprised at just how much people enjoyed this flick. I almost walked out, however i'm absolutely not a fan of, what i believe to be, poorly construed slapstick.

My friends saw it and agree that the first 30 or 40 minutes was funny but then it got awful and had no ending. They told me to not see it until Pirates 3 is about to come to theaters, so that's what i'll do.

It could go either way with Will. It could go the predictable and shitty WB version where Will whines because she kissed him, and she gets pissed because he doesn't trust her.

OR...he could realize what she did, and be unable to love her anymore because of it.

I'm hoping for the latter, because the bitch gotta die. Shows Sparrow to be a good guy, even for a few minutes.

Just checked the DVD of the first movie...
Elizabeth is running, the captain pulls out his pistol and points it at her, she stops dead, and a gun shot goes off. Cut to Jack pointing his fired gun, Captain monologues about his wasted shot, then Will gives his snappy "He didn't waste it". Gold+Blood dropped and curse lifted, then the captain opens his shirt and sees blood staining his shirt in the heart area, says "I feel... cold", then falls down and drops his apple. After that, there's the Elizabeth/Will chat scene, with Jack Sparrow rumaging through loot. Then they make a quick scroll-by of the pile with the chest of gold as Jack Sparrow is leaving without the captain's body visible. I would figure max 3 minutes that they lingered in the cave, and the captain's literally like 10 feet from the chest (2:00:53)

I would say the monkey being undead still is the biggest hint of the gold cheating death route. Then there is the fact the captain was actually undead when shot, and had many seconds to start healing before the curse was lifted. He's literally a crawls distance away from the chest and salvation.

I hope that in the third movie they use this explanation. It makes the most sense with what happened in the first movie and what we saw in the second.

Thank you for that explanation. I still find it shitty that they leave the audience with such a scenario to ponder over.

When they first trade the undead monkey to the crazy jamaican lady, you see the monkey isn't freaking out at all - he's sitting next to a pair of boots. You know who's boots!

I liked it but hated the ending so basically, I agree with everyone else. I am still intrigued by the third one though.

I noticed something else too: Jack steals one of the jamaican lady's rings and throughout the rest movie whenever they show Jack's hand (up to and including the Kraken incident), he's wearing it. Could be nothing...

Well her reasoning was that the kraken was after Jack, not the ship, but Jack had earlier left the ship and the Kraken hadn't gone after him, it had gone after the ship. So the whole situation is pretty flawed to begin with.

The kraken is a stupid animal. it does whatever davy tells it to do, and most likely doesn't have 'jack sense'. in that instance, davy said to smash the black pearl and the kraken was on that. I have a hunch that davy can tell when jack dies inately because of their old bargain. once the pearl was smashed, if jack hadn't of died I'd assume davy would know and spend more time chasing him and killing alot of inocent people in the process. that's why she sent him down with the ship.

Spoiler: I'm not sure if I was the only one to notice this, but remember how they said Davy Jones became the way he did because of a woman he loved? Well, during the scene in the swamp lady's house, when it show's Sparrow picking up that ring, if you look beside the ring, you notice that the swamp lady has the EXACT same pendant box thing Davy Jones had when he was passed out at his organ (the musical box that played when Will was trying to steal the key). I'm wondering if we are to assume that Davy's lady was the swamp lady, in which Jack Sparrow boned, in which could explain some of the animosity between both Sparrow and Jones. God I hope this point wasn't actually confirmed in the movie and I just didn't hear it. =P

I dunno, I really liked the ending cliffhanger. Jack's shot with the Kraken was the money shot for the entire film for me.
