saw it and also agree it was not very good. there really didn't seem to be any purpose to the movie. like someone else said, it seemed almost like a long(really long) trailor to the third one.

i also agreed that depp's character was a bit annoying this time around... I think they tried to hard to give him 1-liners.

I have never fallen asleep durring a movie but actually dozed off twice during this one. Some of it had to do with the fact that it was a midnight showwing and I was already tired, but I like to think that if the movie was as good as the first I would not have slept.

it was "okay", not terrible but not great.

I kind of understand what that reviewer, and the 394580 others on rotten tomatoes who've said the same thing, are saying. I went into the first movie with zero expectations and was blown away by how great a movie it was, and in particular how well Depp played Jack Sparrow. Going into the second one, everyone knows what to expect and the movie cannot possibly have the same effect as the first one.

Was there any possible way the sequel could live up to the original? Not in my opinion, no.

Was it still a good movie? Absolutely--and even more so considering how weak the 'blockbusters' have been so far this summer.

What I think is "douchey" is to give the movie a "rotten" review because the movie was basically exactly what anyone with half a brain who saw the first movie would expect it to be. Give it a lower score than the first one, sure. Mark off a little because the whole movie just sets up the next sequel, and the next one is still a year away (LOTR can get away with this; a movie based on a Disney theme park ride cannot). I can't see how anyone who liked the first one can hate on it any more than that though.

Loved it...Few too many chase scenes IMO. How many times can they pan out, showing Sparrow running like a fruitcake. But I liked it overall.

When the Kraken was about to swallow Jack..I was like ok...That just LOOKS fucked up. Great job there. How can anyone not like Depp in these flicks is beyond me...And WTF were people expecting with the character as a whole? I mean for him to keep the same flavor as the 1st was well done. There werent enough one liners IMO!

I fricken swear that Davey Jones is that head vampire dude in Underword with the southern drawl. But Davey Jones in general, as well as his entire crew was very well done as far as CGI and make-up go.

Loved how they ended the movie with the re-introduction of the Black Pearl captain. Can't wait for the last installment.

BTW...Is this one of those Matrix deals? We only have to wait like 6 to a year? Was the sequel already filmed?

Yea, that was Bill Nighy. His accent seemed to change every time he was on screen, I thought that was sort of weird.

May 2007 is the current date for part 3, they filmed two and three at the same time but still have to do all the effects for 3.

Wow, just got back from it. I thought it was great. Didn't know the length when I went in, so finding out it was near 2 and 1/2 hours long was a nice suprise. I very much liked the ending.

Any speculations as to how Barbarus (sp) is back alive? I don't know much about the 3rd aside from Chow Yun Fat being the main bad guy. I'm hoping that just because the 3rd movie may seemingly be about them going to the ends of the world to get Jack back, that Depp still has a decent amount of action in it.

anyone else but me pissed that it was an open ended movie? i mean, they could have at least finished the davey jones story line before ending it the way they did.

i guess i just hate having to wait for the next one. leaving the theatre i had the same feeling as when i saw matrix 2. except matrix 2-3 sucked balls and i had a feeling of dissapointment on top of that.

Saw a 1:15 AM show and the theater was still packed. Great movie, good action, interesting characters, and good special effects.

I honestly do not get the complaints that Johnny Depp acted like... well, Jack Sparrow. I thought he did a fine job and the character was still interesting to me.

Why did he need the picture of the key? I mean it was a pretty safe bet that Davey Jones would have had it close to him, so that would have narrowed it down.

Much <3 for brining back Geoffrey Rush. I love that actor and the one thing I was sad about for Dead Man's Chest was that he wasn't going to be in it.

After not really understanding why everyone liked the first movie so much, I fucking loved this one. Davy Jones was amazing and this just really felt like a great adventure movie.
