| I wouldn't take the recommendation of a normal movie critic on anime. Appleseed is definitely worth watching. I do wish it was a little more balanced in the talk vs. action department, but otherwise it was great. It's also one of the best examples of combining normal animation with CGI. |

| I enjoyed it. Visually one of the best animated films that I have ever seen. Cel-shaded animation has such a "clean" feel to it. It's not the best story out there, but it is really solid for the genre. It dwarfs the original anime in both completion and animation.

+32 Internets | If you're a fan of Shirow's work you won't be disappointed. If you liked the Final Fantasy movie you should like this. It strays from the original Appleseed which I found a bit disappointing, but the story elements were more or less the same. The old Appleseed movie seemed to be more action oriented, while the new one presents more philosophical issues. Again, if you're a Shirow fan, you're used to his style and it'll be a visual treat. The music was fantastic also. |

| Where can I find a good translation? Grabbed it off BT, but the translation is so bad I can't watch it.

| Here's my super-quick review of Appleseed. MUCH better than Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, but not quite as good as Ghost in the Shell 1.

Edit: If you have a 2cd XviD dvd-rip of it, I'd get the one labeled "Appleseed 2004.DVDrip NDRT.2CD.[metalmania].[grammar.trans.aendi.asmodean].(subs.2ya.com).rar" at kloofy's. That's the one I used for it, and the English isn't bad. It was much better than the original subs that came with the NDRT release at any rate. I think I still edited them a little bit myself because I'm just that anal about grammar, but it was nothing major. Last edited by Vorph : 05-20-2005 at 09:36 AM. | |

| It's solid. The look is fantastic and the plot while somewhat typical for anime is strong enough to hold you. I thought things got a bit slow in the second half but I'm happy with the $25 special edition I picked up at Best Buy on a whim. |
