| The Royal Tenenbaums was decent but really didn't get much attention. It's kinda like the Arrested Development of movies.

| Real Life Apologist | Oddly enough, Dr. Strangelove. The comedy is too nuanced for most people I know to get it. It's truly sad that such a classic is mostly ignored by our generation. History of the World I agree with as well. I find it hit or miss, but the hits are quite amusing. But most people seem to find it to be just stupid. |

+39 Internets | In the same vein as Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou. One of my top 5 movies of all time, and I'm perfectly fine with you thinking it's a giant piece of shit. Of course, you're wrong. But I'm perfectly fine with it. |

| The problem is that "only you" is going to be pretty misinterpreted; there are a lot of 80s / early 90s movies that, due to the high cost of VHS tapes at the time, and being dropped out of the cable network rotation, most of you will consider "massive flops" or "universally disliked" even though they had generally good reviews and your parents / older siblings liked, even if they don't necessarily remember them anymore. You should change the topic to "comedies that are underrated". Case in point - just about every one of my favorites is already listed in this thread: Men At Work is awesome (written and directed by Emilio Estevez) - and Keith David was Samuel L. Jackson before SLJ was. One Crazy Summer is better than Better Off Dead. Sorry, has to be said. Fear of a Black Hat is awesome just for the song/video parodies, even if it borrows too much from Spinal Tap. History of the World Part 1 is awesome (I still want my Jews In Space - and Princess Vespa does not count) - but it was by no means publicly disliked. BASEketball did not get the love it should have. Hot Shots Part Deux is the Airplane of the 90s. Kentucky Fried Movie is the Airplane of the 70s. Royal Tennebaums is the Arrested Development of 2001. And Grosse Pointe Blank may be my favorite film ever - but the reviews on it at the time were positive to ecstatic - this was by no means universally reviled. |

| Freaked My friend and I are the only people I know who even know of this movie and it's freaking hillarious. Pretty big cast as well. Randy Quaid, Bobcat, Brooke Shields, Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter (Bill and Ted) Giant Rastafarian Eyeballs FTW |

| Heh Dr Strangelove is maybe one of the greatest movies of all time. its also considered as such by many people. its not underrated by any means. kids today its probably completely unknown to and if they did watch it they wouldnt understand what it was like growing up during the cold war and the constant threat that at any moment the world could end in total annihilation. Freaked i still have on VHS and its pretty damned funny. Mr T as the bearded lady for the win. am i the only one who enjoyed Stealing Harvard? that shit had me rolling. |
