| Tae Guk Gi (Brotherhood of War) I dunno if this movie has already been thrown up here, but a search wasn't able to located it. Anyways, I was strolling through Blockbuster a couple days ago, and came across this movie in the foreign section. I'm a sucker for foreign movies, and even more for war movies. To be honest, this has to be one of the best war movies I have ever seen. Maybe second to Platoon. It takes a bit of Saving Private Ryan, We Were Soldiers, and a bit of Braveheart and throws it into one great epic movie. I'll try not to let out any spoilers, for those of you who wish to rent it in the future, the main focus of the movie, is about two very close brothers, who are drafted into the Korean War. One brother makes a self promise to himself, that he will do everything in his power to allow his younger brother to be sent back home. Along the way, minds become clouded, friendships and mistakes are made, and you get to see a very emotional movie unfold before you. The war scenes are amazing, and the acting is done really well. Theres a few parts where they go a little bit overboard, but thats understandable. All in all, if war movies is your thing, you may wanna stop by and rent this one. Not a bad overall score from: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/taeg...erhood_of_war/

| Saw this about a year ago after reading a bunch of good reviews, and it really underwhelmed me. I seem to remember the story being realllly corny, and the action was alright, but (understanably) way below such movies as Shaving Ryan's Privates. Worth seeing I guess, but didn't strike me as a keeper by any means. |

+3 Internets | I saw this a while back, kind of expecting it to be some martial-arts action movie but it turned out to be far from it. I thought it was a very well done movie about war with all the chaos and emotional stress it involves. I think it's very interesting watching the two brothers, who are very different people, react to the war. It's a movie for thought and consideration of what's going on more than "huurrr hurrr teh aznz r shuuting eech uthr". So definatley not for everyone. |
