| Even though some people might have found LoTR long and not too exciting, it has a much different feel to it then these other fantasy movies. DD, and now Eragon seem so campy and cheesy, nevermind the story. Its like watching Saving Private Ryan then watching Windtalkers.

| My short short review Good: CGI was amazing, last fight scene was $$ Bad: The story was hard to sit through, and targetted towards children and/or written by one. Ugly: Rosie O'donell

+8 Internets | I am just back from watching this completely cheesy piece of shit movie. And it is indeed a complete and total ripoff of Star Wars ep IV story wise, put in an heroic fantasy universe. The following could be considered as a spoiler, but if you have seen SW ep IV, it's not realy : You realy got it all : a young farmer, raised by his uncle, discovers that he has some jedi powers. The local hermit/guy considered crazy by the people from the area is acctualy himself an ex jedi/dragoneer, who will teach the young apprentice how to use his powers. He then gets killed like Obi Wan. They go save the princess held hostage in the death star/castle of the king. All the star wars components are here : there is the rogue sidekick, the princess, the emperor & Darth Vader sith combo (Druza and the King), the force (dragoneer powers), even the dark side of the force (black magic used by Druza and probably the King too), Jedi (the dragoneers), the Rebels (Vardens), the Legend/prophecy thing ... This movie is worse than Tomb Raider 2

| I just saw a comercial for this movie on TV, and usually the after-release advertisements roll off a bunch of quotes (or adjectives) from positive reviewers. For Eragon, there was only two, with the authors being noted in extraneously small fine print. Move over Harry Potter (to not be associated with this crap)... |

+2 Internets | The icing on the cake for the "this movie is really star wars" is the scene where the Darth Vader guy kills his subordinate by touching him on the temple. If he would have choked him by holding his fingers an inch apart and said "You have failed me for the last time Admiral" it would have been perfect. |

| Well at first I thought only this movie ripped off Star Wars, but then I was watching Conan, the Barbarian and noticed at the end James Earl Jones says something very similar to what he said in Star Wars. "I am your father." At least Arnold doesnt scream, "NOOOOOOO!!" and commences a beheading. All this just a few years after Star Wars came out! I thought of this thread immediately after running across the movie on TNT. |

| Conan doesn't belong in the same sentence as Eragon, much less a comparison. Conan = Bad Ass Eragon = Shit-stained panties because it sucked so bad. I think i'm echoing the post before me... but redundancy is my forte. |

| God, I remember reading this thread before the movie came out - and now I wish I read it AFTER the movie came out. Wife was bugging me that she wanted to see this movie so I let her buy it off pay-per-view. It's pretty bad when things don't make sense in a fantasy movie. Anyways, I hate dragging up an old thread - but I feel anyone who hasn't seen the movie needs to see this thread. If anyone was thinking about buying, renting, borrowing this movie from a friend, or hell stealing/downloading this movie...DON'T. Last edited by Believe : 04-23-2007 at 12:37 AM. |

| I don't think there is any way to possibly condemn a movie more harshly than applying this exact analogy to it. Hats off sir, and thank you.

| I caught this the other day. The sad thing is, a lot of the people I was with were really enjoying it. I have lost so much faith in humanity it was hard to bear this additional, yet massive blow. |
