| The odds of it being good in the first place were very slim so I don't think it much matters. Castlevania would make a great movie if put in the right hands but we all knew that wouldn't happen. That being said Event Horizon is a great movie. |

+25 Internets | The Castlevania movie was made allready. It was called Van Hellsing and it sucked.

| "From the director of AvP" is supposed to get people into the theater? I have never understood how someone goes from Event Horizon to making video game movies that Uwe Boll would point at and laugh (though I confess to actually liking RE2).

| my paint skills are lacking tonight, but im pretty sure that promo is missing the words: "fucked up" after "From the director who..." Edit: Just saw this posted on the message boards for Castlevania on IMDB, and this is fucking spot on to how I think Anderson will fuck this movie up. "You know what perspective I have of how this movie will be butchered. This is what Paul Anderson is going to do: *He will write a corny script with horrible dialogue *He will have Milla Jovovich star as a stupid Belmont who is not even in the game *None of the cool weapons, or the whip will be in the movie *The story will take place in New York City and then Milla is called into action by some stupid military organization to go to Castlevania in Romania and then kill Dracula *There will be skeletons with the guns and other weapons *There will be many explosions, pointless sex scenes, and some kung fu and Matrix style action *In the end, Milla will destroy Dracula with a bazooka and set a few bombs in the castle, then destroy it." Fucking hell. Last edited by Erinye; 06-05-2007 at 01:24 AM.. |

+10 Internets | AvP and RE weren't that bad. They could have been better, sure... but they could have been worse... oh so much worse (hi2u BloodRayne.) Granted, one has to wonder how you could NOT have a super bad-ass movie when you are handed both the Alien and Predator licenses and told "Make these 2 fight," but hey. Honestly though, if the movie isn't filled with the main character acquiring boomerangs and turkey legs from busted candles, it won't feel like Castlevania to me. |

| honestly? never post again. RE wasn't necessarily terrible (average-below average). but it wasn't resident evil at all. resident evil wasn't about drop kicking zombies matrix style. anderson completely and utterly missed the heart and feeling of the games. he essentially takes a franchise and makes the exact same movie over and over; resident evil was basically mortal kombat with jovovich as liu kang. don't even get me started on AvP. that movie was probably the biggest fuckup in film history, HISTORY. the potential for an orgy of everything badass unequaled in film was all there. it seriously depresses me to talk about it. at least uwe boll doesn't even have that potential available to him (alone in the dark could've been great though). castlevania will be mortal kombat redux: expect some crazy kung fu action from the belmonts. (edit: if i could kill one person in the world, it would be anderson btw.) Last edited by Dumar; 06-06-2007 at 11:48 PM.. |

+13 Internets | I was 10 when it came out, so of course I loved Mortal Kombat. I still think it's a pretty good movie. Event Horizon was just awesome, I have it on VHS and still watch it sometimes. Not the best acting and I don't really like Larry Fish, but its so creepy! I really wanted to like Soldier when I watched it, but it sucked. Both Resident Evils were entertaining. Sienna Guillory was hot as hell in the sequel, plus Mike Epps provided the perfect "lol wtf is that nigger doing there" moments. AvP was definitely complete shit compared to the originals of its source material, Predator is in my top ten movies of all time, and Alien is of course a classic for the ages. The movie by itself is actually fairly entertaining. I wouldn't get too hyped up, it is a video game movie after all, but I think this guy has the best shot at making a movie people will actually like. If you want a movie that sticks 100% to the formula used in the game just play the game. It's the same as books being translated to film. What's the point in watching the movie if it's just the book put on film? Read the book. It's much funner to make your own images in your head than watch some other guys' interpretation. Differs with a video game though because a video game is the same as a movie, a visual story. So turning a video game into a movie and being absolutely true to the game would be pointless. I never saw Silent Hill, but I did see Brotherhood of the Wolf which is from the same guy, and I do think he'd be able to do a pretty good job with Castlevania. |

| see why do people even say this. why? it's like you make excuses. if you indeed are a fan of the aliens, predator, and aliens vs predator mythos then you KNOW, you KNOW, what it could have been. it's like saying "oh, well i could've had the top sirloin, but the gruel was fairly fulfilling." it makes me completely disregard the entire rest of your post when you vomit shit like that. was it more entertaining than watching paint dry? yes, but BARELY. and we're talking about the clash of literally the two most badass film franchises in history. and all you (others too) can clamor out is that it was 'fairly entertaining' or 'entertaining enough'. is that what we as consumers are paying for now? just enough entertainment where it's 'entertaining enough' to where i DON'T WANT TO WATCH PAINT DRY? Quote:
i want a director who honors and more importantly understands the franchise that i have enjoyed for 20 FUCKING YEARS. | |
