| The one complaint I have with the MTV awards is that they're 100% fixed. There's no voting at all. The producers of the awards and MTV just sit down and choose who's going to win, despite whatever they might tell the public about voting practices. Mostly this is a vehicle to promote MTV Films, the production company under the MTV banner. They made last year's Napoleon Dynamite, for example, and also Mean Girls -- movies that, if memory serves, won every single MTV movie award they were nominated for. Kind of a coincidence, no? This year's selection was a little different, given the lack of MTV/Paramount films in the running. My guess is that they just distributed wins evenly across all studios (which, looking at the winners list, seems to be the case). |

| I don't usually ever watch awards shows. Is it common for the announcers of awards to be promoting their movies at the same time? I only saw a few awards, but the ones I saw (like the two girls from Xmen, and then Keanu & Sandra Bullock for their new movie, etc). They seemed pretty fixed. It actually seemed easy to predict the few awards I saw handed out. But hell yeah I got lucky to see the Sexiest Female award! Jeeesus christ! I was surprised they gave Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie and award for some duo or whatever, seeing as they both were too busy (too cool?) to go to the show. I thought they would have just given the award to someone else.
