| They didn't include Omega Red because they felt the younger audience would be unattuned to the Cold War banter that consumed his background. He will be in X4 though except as Omega Red, Green and White. ...you figure it out.

+17 Internets | I dunno why they thought "the cure" would be permanent. It was derived from the boy, "Leech," and McCoy only lost his blue coloring near the boy. As soon as he got away from him his powers returned. I saw nothing permanent about what the boys powers did. As for "Omega Mutie" that wasn't Omega Red. If you noticed a lot of the army of mutants had tatoo's of the omega symbol. I'm sure he was just one of them. And at the end. The chess pieces were metallic, the second I saw the before they even got close to Magneto I knew what was coming. There was no way they could end it after burning that many bridges. I'm pissed I didn't stay for Xaviers scene at the end. Edit: Wikipedia FTW http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Men:_The_Last_Stand It's got a list of the whole cast, what mutant they were, with links so you can see what their powers were in the comics.

One big complaint a lot of people have with this movie is that Magneto's character seems to be off. He is so pro-mutant that a lot of people feel he would never allow for what happened towards the end of the movie when he "sends in the grunts". This being said, it would be very unlikey that he would kill Wolverine because Wolverine is a mutant.

+13 Internets | *THIS POST IS PROBABLY FULL OF SPOILERS* Ok, as a total non-comic-book-nerd (I am a selective nerd) at all I can say that this installment of X-Men was "ok", as a movie goer and not a comic fan. I thought the previous two were well done for the most part. I knew the basic gist of the X-Men going into the first movie just from nerdy friends, I've read a handful of their comic books. Aside from that I am/is/was clueless. This 3rd flick had a bit more of what I, personally, was looking for: Cool mutants fighting each other. In this, it had spades. Now, first off the bat, that porcupine guy (asian cop from Saw) was gay as all gay. I actually remembered to bring my "Gay-O-Meter" to this movie....and it broke. Maybe someone more in-tune with X-Men lore can explain this to me, but why was I rooting for Magneto the whole time? Seriously, I wanted him to win. But then all the sudden out of nowhere, he abandons the blue shapeshifter chick for no real apparent reason. She was a loyal member/friend for all three movies and he just up and ditches her in 2 seconds flat? This, of cousre, happens after all three of the movies have tried very hard to convince me that Magneto isn't really "evil", he's just at odds with Xavier politically. Anyway, that didn't sit well with me at all. I was liking the movie until that point. Not that I didn't like it after that, but that moment certainly made me taste the deus-ex-machina before I even knew it was there. Also, the theatre I was in actually cheered when he was hit with the "cure" darts. I did not relate to that in any way shape or form. I felt bad for him, I wanted that guy to win. He seemed like the truly noble and righteous one to me. Bad writing, bad crowd. I didn't understand why the X-Men "held the line" and defended that place. Sure, they "win" at the end of the movie, but I wasn't following why they thought the plastic soldiers who wanted to "cure" everyone were their friends and/or benefactors, in any way... In the movie, defending those soldiers (and facing Magneto's horde) apparently was akin to suicide. It wasn't until the end when they made the blue guy UN ambassador that the rewards were seen, but how could they have known that would happen? I didn't follow this, maybe my lack of having read the comics is to blame. The Jean Grey character was really cool this time around. The way she'd own everything around her without even lifting a finger was badass. Her relationship with the X-Men made her character even more interesting (as opposed to a_random_badguy_01). Overall I thought it was enjoyable to watch, but not quite on par with the other two and not quite what I was expecting. I see where they left an opening for another movie, but it'd be a stretch to bring back Magneto and Xavier, and their relationship was really the most interesting thing in all three movies. And Millie, for the record, Famke Janssen is approximately 10,000,000 times hottter than Rebecca Romainelettuce.

| Actually I found most people do tend to root for Magneto. I think it's mostly because he's not as much of a douchebag as Xavier is portayed as. Xavier really has done some underhanded, dirty things depending on who was writing at the time but we're always supposed to root for the do-gooder cripple instead of the mentally scarred death camp survivor. Sometimes Magneto is the hero. Sometimes he goes out and tries to launch some missiles at major cities and goes back to archvillainy. Some arc in the x-men had Xavier's repressed hatred for humanity manifest which wandered around pwning everything... Last edited by Iannis; 05-29-2006 at 01:15 AM.. |

+13 Internets | Yeah, I think the biggest let-down of this whole movie had nothing to do with production or acting or anything. I found myself unwittingly rooting for Magneto and his band of underground freedom fighters over the overly PC X-Men. Plus, Magneto had the hotter chics on his side and a better actor portraying him. *dodges molotov cocktails from StarTrek: TNG fans*
