Running Scared

I didn't see any posts about this movie (unless I am blind), yet it was not that bad imo. It's not the best movie around either, but it's decent. It's a gangster movie, and basicely, evrything that can go wrong goes wrong for the hero.

I went in with low expectations (Paul Walker), but I must say I really enjoyed it. That pimp was hilarious!

I really wish this movie had had a better ad campaign. I saw the trailer at some other movie not long before this was released, and dismissed as another movie along the lines of Four Brothers (which I saw in the theater and regretted wasting the time). That and it had Paul Walker starring in it... prior to this the only good thing I could think of to say about him would've been "well, at least he had sense enough not to sign up for Tokyo Drift."

Anyway, Walker actually does a really good job in this movie. His accent sounded like that of someone from Cali who once heard someone from NJ talking on television, but that's about the only complaint I had. Not going to start running out to see everything he stars in or anything, but I won't actively avoid his movies anymore.

The movie itself is MUCH more interesting than the trailer leads you to believe. It's like they tried to avoid showing how surreal much of it is; the movie is really like a series of fairy tales adapted to the present and infused with sex, nudity, and most importantly--extreme violence.

It's not a perfect movie by any means. The hunt for the gun probably could've been shortened a bit, because once all the twists and turns in the movie are done with, the gun really stops being all that important. Some people might not like the final twist, and I definitely won't be sitting down to analyze the movie to figure whether it really was plausible or not. The scenes with the pimp and the husband and wife duo (that's the moment when I realized just how fucked up the movie was) more than made up for any other shortcomings.

9/10 -- It might not be the best movie I've see this year so far, but it was the most entertaining. If you like bizarre, ultraviolent movies, you have to rent this one. [US release date is June 6.]

I remember seeing a trailer for it and thinking:

"When did Paul Walker learn to act?!"

Never had any intentions to watch this until Vorph told me to and damn this is actually a good movie. Only complaint is the husband wife scenario it just didn't fit with the movie imo and was pointless guess you could even throw the pimp in that too but all in all it really didn't make a difference to me as I still think its a good movie.

this movie was good. i wouldnt call it great, just good. it was a sequence of really intense scenes, one after the other. it definitely kept me on the edge to see what the fuck could happen next to this kid after he has already met some of the worst shit ever.

i did enjoy the righteous justice given in each scene (mama with the gun and the pimpslap!), i did not enjoy the ending too much but by then i was so fucking pumped from the rest of the movie i couldn't give two shits. i dont want to ruin the film for anyone who hasn't seen it, its worth the rent.

6/10

Paul Walker = New Generation's Keanu Reeves ....all we need is a Bill & Ted like movie, we already had Point Break with cars aka Fast and Furious. His acting was above his normal par though in this film.

I don't understand your score of this movie 6/10 but all you do (minus 1 thing) is praise the movie.

not really sure what your question is. but i will try to be more clear on review.
i didnt really want to comment on the ending, but i will.

6/10 = movie was very suspensfull. the entire movie was a sequence of intense events based around the kid's adventures on the run. do I find it a little ridiculous that any of these events would ever happen in the same day to the same person ? yes. the acting in the movie was pretty solid, by everyone, which kept me wanting to see the outcome.

******SPOILERS , SPOILERS TO FOLLOW ON THE BOTTOM OF POST*******

***************SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER***********

The ending tie up in the hockey arena was good. however, everything after that was a terrible ending in my opinion. Not sure how much they touched on him being an undercover cop, but it surprised me at the end. I didnt care at this point cause I figured the movie was over and the good guys won. The part with the pimp was unneeded, and the insane driving home by paul walker was mental. I wanted to reach into my tv and punch him in the face until he listened to the kid and stopped. The whole thing left the movie open-ended. Not sure what the director was going for with the scene, it was completely unneeded. If the object was to make the movie more depressing or more intense, I think that was accomplished with the pedophiles. Anyhow, thats just my opinion.
