Question for Star Trek fans

I read that supposedly the good Star Trek movies are the even numbered ones excluding 10, so I've saw "Wrath of Khan" and "First Contact" last week and will likely pick up "Voyage Home" and "The Undiscovered Country" sometime soon. My question is, I like space battles (between spacecraft), is there a movie that has a good space battle, but maybe lacks in terms of plot? Do you think any of the odd numbered movies are worth checking out?

deep space nine episodes in the latter seasons had the most space battles in star trek. I think the Wrath of Khan had the most of any of their movies, but the TNG cast movies were all so forgetible...

If you want a good laugh get star trek 5: Spock has a brother? and skip ahead to the last 15 minutes. Truly awesome. William Shatner's best work!

Undiscovered Country wasn't that good at all, but truthfully I don't really remember most of it. Generations was killer, and the only reason it was worse than First Contact is because it had no Borg. As far as space battles go, I dunno. Maybe Insurrection? I've tried to forget that one as much as possible. The series finale of TNG also had a dope ass battle with the future Enterprise uncloaking and wrecking shop on some Klingon ass.

Anywho, Star Trek is definitely not about the space battles.

True. But I thought the worst part of the undiscovered country was the klingon general who kept quoting Shakespeare to enhance the drama. Otherwise it was passable.

The best space battles are in the last 2-3 seasons of DS9 ;p

But for movie battles

2: Khan vs. Enterprise. The -ONLY- Trek movie that actually had them fighting in 3 dimensions instead of just 2d plane ;p

6: Enterprise vs. Cloaked ship

8: Ships vs. Borg Cube

10: Enterprise vs. Romulan shit

Yesturday's Enterprise was the first really great battle I remember, combined with an awesome story.

Insurrection wasn't all that bad. I mean I like it a lot and I know some wouldn't, but I wouldn't call it bad. Bad = the next one after it, whatever it's called. Where data "disobeys".

I'm pretty sure this is because the last 2 or 3 seasons of DS9 were after Babylon 5 went off the air and DS9 got their Special Effects production company.

But yeah, DS9 has some sweet spcae battles in the last couple seasons.

I actually had no problem with Nemisis (10). It was pretty much a rehash of Wrath of Khan in a lot of ways but it was a really good rental pick up, with plenty of senseless action. Trek really isn't the place to go for scifi spaceship fights though.

God help us all if a TrekvsWars thread starts. Just to hopefully nip it in the bud, though.

The two can't be logically compaired. It's Science Fiction vs. Science Fantasy. Apples and Oranges

heh heh.

in terms of lore for ships...

enterprise d would win vs a star destroyer.

why?

enterprise d has better shields, better weaponry too (star wars is all lasers, no photon/quantum torpedo type weapons for the most part--well atleast on star destroyers)...is more manuverable.

as to the best battles for trek....DS9 last few seasons...tng had a few decent ones as well
