None of the other major stories offer as much character as that storyline. Which is quite a departure from classical stuff, since the main heroes aren't humans in that story, even if you get human intervention as semi-villains. Heavy costume use ahead ![]() | |

| it should be 3 and a half hours of all the major characters bitching about everything and anything that there is to bitch about... I think if they went that direction with the film, they'd have major success in identifying with their audience. "OMG EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE GUYS I CANT BLIEVE WE FITGH THIS WAR AGIANST HUMANS LOL SO UNBALANCED." Right before the movie ends we'll have thrall walking out of the story saying "fuck it guys im out of this gay shit, youre all a bunch of tards for staying, azeroth sucks lol!" Then when the sequel arrives, he'll miraculously pop back in to bitch about everything again, and everyone in the theater will bitch about how gay it is that he came back and how they won't see the next movie in the series for anything.

Oh, btw, best part about the first D&D movie is the audio commentary, hearing the director/producer and jimmy talking about how freakin awesome it is, how the new ending they put in with the flying lights was better, and how they are going to do two more movies.

+8 Internets | If this movie tells the story of Thrall, it's going to rock your hairy bizzalls. Then again, I have already read it in Lord of the Clans. Maybe like a sweet multiple storyline type thing. My biggest beef is when they try to make a movie follow game mechanics, or worse, they completely ignore the game. I.E. at least use SOME of the right spells, location names, mob names..etc. Doom didn't specify what they were fighting or where they were fighting it. They just completely bent over for the producers. DONT BEND OVER FOR THE PRODUCERS BLIZZARD!

+2 Internets | This movie is going to be awesome indeed. For the 13 year olds and other infants it is directed at anyway. I'm very curious how this movie will be compared to Advent Children, which I thought was very very nicely done graphics wise. Last edited by Punko : 05-09-2006 at 10:33 AM. |

| I can assure you this movie is not being made to make a movie. Its being made to boost subscriptions to WOW. 1 movie ticket = not much cash for blizzard 1 wow account = 15buck of monthly income for god knows how long. |

My point is, details matter, they only add to the storyline and make the movie better for the hardcore fans, they subtract nothing. If it's a good story, with cool action and etc, having the correct names will only make it that much better, and allow it to ascend into cult-following status. Bring in the general audience with the story and effects, but bring back the game fans with the details. Please note: I am not advocating having 40 retards fighting Cthun and trying to avoid getting nailed by death ray as part of a movie. That just isnt cool.

| It's hard to imagine them basing the movie on the WoW era. There's other, much richer points in the WoW timeline that would be just as entertaining and are infinitely more appropriate for a film adaptation. War of The Ancients, The First War, even the fall of Arthas would make for great one-off movies. As far the WoW era they've got the Chtulu angle with the opening of the gates maybe... or some UFO shit with the Uldum they could play with, and then they'd have to be liberal with conditions in the current WoW environment as well. There's just so much material Blizz can work with in the non-WoW timelines that it's hard to see why they'd bother with current WoW events. This whole thing isn't a surprise though. Old Diablo vets will remember during the release of Diablo2, when Blizzard rushed to get the FMV in Diablo2 played on a big screen in California so they would be eligible for Academy recognition as a short film. They've had film aspirations as far back as that. There's certainly no shortage of ability or motivation on Blizzard's part, and now, there's no shortage of financing either. Here's hoping they stick to CGI though, the whole Live-action videogame movie thing has just been too polluted. |

| Can't say I'm hopeful of a good live action adaptation, but we'll see. Maybe Blizzard will "wow" us. The problem with the Warcraft storyline is that it's largely shallow and, in the wake of Tolkien, childishly cliche. To make something that'll be remembered as anything more than a forgettable 10%@rottentomatoes would require some good, honest tinkering and a very clever writer. |

| Lord of the Rings did make tons of changes and they were very good changes (there are parts where I prefer what Jackson did over Tolkien actually). Movies aren't books and Movies shouldn't be video games. The characters and world details are purely to the IP, not the video game, that's fine. You have a story on Thrall or Arthas' fall, awesome. The problem will come when they have a "ranger" character with a pet tiger, that shoots magic arrows and lays traps because that's what hunters do in game, can be bad. Especially if they do it for every character because "they have to do it for the fans". Build for character with an eye on the game, not the other way around. The fans are idiots that get pissed if you don't stand up to some perfect form and do it exactly the way they want it to be. Writing for the fans is bad.
