| Theatrical Version of Star Wars Trilogy on DVD http://news.yahoo.com/s/usatoday/200...esbacktobasics So Lucas finally decided to release the original versions of the series on DVD. I thought a couple years ago he said that the special editions were going to be the only versions available? I'd like to have these, but I've spent so much money on the trilogy that I'm done with it. Just further proof of how money hungry Lucas has become. |

| What's gay is that he's not doing anything at all to clean up the video. Adding new fx shots and changing the plot is retarded, getting rid of stuff like the grey boxes around the spaceships which will look like absolute shit on a HDTV is just common sense. I'm betting these cost at least $30 each too, since it's a limited run and it includes the 2004 DVD in each one too (yay, three new coasters for my coffee table). |

| Yeah if you check the article they are going to be $30 each and include both the special edition and original theatrical edition. Its too bad they aren't going to touch things up. The last DVD set looks and sounds amazing, but I don't want the added scenes or cgi shit. It would be nice if this new release had all the sound and visual upgrades, but ditched the lame special edition changes. |

+1 Internets | He's probably not restoring it so he can get people to buy his retarded 'enhanced' version, which is amazingly childish when you think about it. Are the 1997 versions of the movies available on DVD? The one with the non-retarded CGI changes? Last edited by Kasonic : 05-05-2006 at 09:36 AM. |

| Yes, but the '97 versions are still retarded. Greedo shoots first, CGI Jabba was added, blaster impacts were removed to make it less violent, dialog was added/dubbed over, etc. Removing the matte lines from the special effect shots was about the only good thing about the '97 release. |

| I've never had a problem with the updated versions of the movies. I mean, there are some things that are stupid(fucking CGI singers in Return of the Jedi), but overall, I don't think they ruin the movies. In the original Special Editions, I had more of a problem with the Han not shooting first because it looked horrible. You could tell it was a freeze frame, and his head like...moved weird. Would be nice if they went back to the old way, but...eh. |

How the fuck could Greedo have possibly missed anyway? The idea that Han shooting Greedo--who has a gun pointed at him--somehow makes him a 'cold-blooded killer' is absolutely retarded, yet that is the reason Lucas made the change. | |
