Revenge of the Nerds... again

'Revenge of the Nerds' being remade
LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- Kyle Newman has signed on to direct "Revenge of the Nerds," a remake of the seminal 1984 teen comedy.

The project is being developed by Fox Atomic, the new young-adult genre division of Fox Filmed Entertainment. The studio is eyeing a summer start date.

The film reteams Newman with scribe Adam F. Goldberg, who is rewriting the latest "Nerds" incarnation.

The pair worked together on Newman's upcoming "Fanboys," which will be distributed by the Weinstein Co. Newman also penned the animated children's comedy "Gnomes."

There's no way they could do that... I can see the Revenge of the Nerds remake I guess, but after United 93 I think people in Hollywood are realizing there's no bounds on what you can make into a movie (or remake into this case), it's all about the benjamins? =\

I still haven't recovered from Michael Jackson and the Chocolate Factory.

I doubt this movie will have the same effect. Being a nerd is kinda cool these days, it doesn't have the same connotations as it did back then since computers and technology are more mainstream. And the representation of nerds in that movie was cliched and over-the-top, it would have to be reworked to be more appropriate today. "Napoleon Dynamite" was the real nerd movie.

I was just commenting a few weeks ago that they should make an updated Revenge of the Nerds movie. I too have fond memories of the old Revenge of the Nerds but I look forward to a new one. As long as they use up-to-date references and it follows a similiar storyline. If they attempt to remake the entire movie scene for scene it'll probably be a disaster.

I believe Revenge of the Nerds was the first time I saw movie titties. The camera shit they pulled, classic. And the tricycle bike song. Gotta love those old 80's movies. Police Academy, Real Genius...good times my friends.

Remakes are getting just out of hand....This week alone Ive read reports of remakes of Red Sonja, Clash of the Titans and now Revenge of the Nerds? If they even hint at remaking Caddyshack, someone gets a beating.

I would love to see a remake of Red Sonja with Angie Everhart. I would love to see a remake of the entire Conan series for that matter.

Am I the only person who read that and saw that they made a movie called Fanboys?

Plot Outline: Four guys from the Midwest drive across the country to honor the wish of their dying friend: to watch "Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace" at George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch before the movie's worldwide release.

All this truly means is that you should start buying movie rights for investment purposes as Hollywood is willing to turn around a sequel/remake for anything.

I am pretty sure that remaking Revenge of the Nerds is one of the Signs of the Apocalypse...

We got Takashi beating on his gong, the boys and Mus are clapping along
