The Fog

Worst horror movie in many years. It isn't scary at all, and the direction is inept. Characters don't act like human beings, and stuff happens only to move the plot forward. The special effects are awful too, almost every element of this movie is technically inept.

I liked the ending though.

Does it have the usual quota of:

"I've just seen my friend's flayed-alive-corpses but I simply must investigate this unlit cellar armed with nothing but a spoon" ?

C'mon, it's a movie starring superboy from Smallville and based on a crappy Carpenter horror flick from the later 70s. How good did you expect it to be?

get that crazy Japanese guy who makes the Silent Hill games. there's a guy who knows how to make fog creepy.

John Carpenter's The Fog is a fine classic.

Heretic.

That and so much more. There's a scene where a man with a metal detector is walking on the beach and finds a hook attached to a large rope that comes out of the ocean. As he pulls the rope out of the sand, the waters start to churn and the rope is pulled back to the sea. Instead of letting go of the rope, the man starts pulling back on it, and wraps it around his body and screams like a retard, until he's dragged to his watery death. This is one of the many "horrrifying" deaths that occur in this film. I like the ending because it's unHollywood, but don't take that as meaning there's anything worth watching here, this is a 2 hour waste of time.

Speaking of John Carpenter and bad movies with cool endings, Lost In New York and Lost In LA anyone? Well, I really liked the endings anyway.

I have no intention of seeing either version of The Fog. That beach scene sounds especially retarded.

John Carpenter has made some of my favorite horror movies but has also made some of the worst horror movies ever.

Escape from NY ? Classic B sci-fi action flick!
Escape from LA ? Not nearly as good as the first but still a decent B action flick.

Carpenter is kinda like George Romero, most of his movies are bizarre.

If you want to see his best horror flick, check out Prince of Darkness!

Does anyone else watch movies they know are really bad (Alone in the Dark, The Cave, A Sound of Thunder) just because you know they are REALLY bad. A sound of thunder was amazing. Raging Sharks was OUTSTANDING for this.

Whoa now, let's not get crazy here. Prince of Darkness is a good flick for sure, but nothing comes close to The Thing for horror greatness. That might just hold true for any horror director, and not just Carpenter...definitely in the top 5.

PS-The Fog has a 0% Cream of the Crop rating. Alone in the Dark still wins though...1% RT score. Ze Germans should be proud of Herr Doktor Boll, jawohl.
