Zee Spider-man 3 plot.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0413300/plotsummary

I am hyped up for this movie as much as the next fanboy, but doesn't this seem kind of rushed? There are soooo many plot elements to squeeze into one movie, I can see it being doable if it's 3 hours long, but what are the chances of that?

What they got to squeeze into one movie:

New Green Goblin
Death of Gwen Stacey
Spider-man getting his black costume
Eddie Brock becoming Venom
Sandman plot stuff

Seems kind of rushed as I think you could make an entire movie about just black costume spider-man as he had it for quite some time in the comics.

Yeah, seems like too much for one movie. Hopefully they can do it, and do it very well. I love Spider-man and I loved the first two movies... I hope they don't make me love a movie everyone else hates. I'm the guy who will see it five times at the theater, even if it's terrible. It also seems to me they could make two movies, one with Symbiote storyline, and one with the return of Harry Osbourne as the Green Goblin.

I'll be praying.

Seems feasible to me. Apparently most of the story revolves around Green Goblin 2 + Sandman teaming up against Spidey, and Eddie Brock is only in the background until the very ending when he gets merged with the symbiont and becomes Venom for the next movie. The only thing that may make this hard to fit into one movie is the new romance that would also add pretty much nothing to the story.

Too many villians can overwhelm a movie.

Exhibit A: Batman Forever
Exhibit B: Batman and Robin

Oh and they were both pieces of shit. Thank you Joel Schumacher for your interest in cinema. Batman Returns worked because Penguin wasn't much of a villian, Catwoman was neither a hero nor a villian in the movie and the real villian was Max Shrek.

So does this mean Topher will be playing Venom in Spider-Man 4 or will they recast it? Unless they do something digital? Venom is a lot of muscle. I'd hate to see him go the way of Juggernaut in X3.

Batman Returns barely worked, literally it was dragged into the "not sucking" zone by the incredible performances by Walken and Pfeiffer.

Aye, I agree, while the plot summary sounds like a feast, let's be realistic, it'll be way too rushed in a movie that lasts around 2 hours.

I find it very unlikely that we'll see much of Venom

The movie will end with a "To Be Continued" of sorts with Eddie Brock becoming Venom at the end

Doubt it'll be rushed, most of the characters are pre-established enough that they don't have to go into great detail about them. Probably see 15 min of screen-time on Brock, more towards the end. Sandman's accident could be a 5 minute newspaper clip. All of the Hobgoblin groundwork it already there from the first movie.

Wonder if we'll ever get to see a Spider-Man/Venom/Carnage movie, that would fucking rock.

They showed the X3 preview at Slither and while the mutant vs mutant was bad ass, I was sorely disappointed with how Juggernaut turned out.

I sure hope they dont try to do a Spidey vs Venom vs Carnage movie. I just cant see them matching the expectations people would have for a movie with that much potential. As cool as it sounds I just know they would end up ruining it hehe.. or even worst Uwe whats-his-name will get ahold of that script =P

This next movie is taking a risk though. Even if they only have Venom on screen for a few minutes if he isnt everything fans want him to be it wont go over well for the 4th film. They were better off just sticking to the other villians and leaving Venom and Carnage alone.

Until I actually see it I'm inclined to give Sam Raimi the benefit of the doubt.

Like others said, if they don't make the movie actually focus on all this extensively it could turn out fine. Sandman isn't a real *huge* Spidey villain along the lines of Green Goblin or Doc Ock, he's more a thug/robber with powers. And as long as Harry is the new Goblin that will take almost no time to introduce/write in since it was already set up.

I do kinda hope they don't go with Gob though. Same villain(kind of) again already? Meh. Bring on the Lizard, they already introduced Doc Connors.

Read the plot, this should work. Its almost identical of how they did it by the comic.
-------------
New Green Goblin
Death of Gwen Stacey
-------------
Origin of Black Suit
Spider-man getting his black costume
-------------
Eddie Brock becoming Venom
Sandman plot stuff
-------------

Now this looks like alot, but even the comic seperated each of these 6 with a main and sub plot. Sandman, Gwen, the adventures of Peter in a black costume are all the subplots to the total story. This can work out, I see a few things that might get mashed up. The origin of the suit will most likely change, and the testing of the suit will definitely change. In the comic the suit came from a NASA space mission that Jonah Jameson's son lead. He brought the symbiote back. Then spiderman got a hold of it , and began testing its powers in his life, and from Lizardman and Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic). In the comic he actually had the suit for a long time before Venom every fully took it over. Like even during Secret Wars. However in the cartoon, they changed that to come up with a simplier more quick way to get Eddie and Venom to come out. Making Eddie more of an evil character than he ever was, primarily based on his jealousy. The movie could make the same presentation. I think this could work as a film, hopefully it does, and hopefully mary jane gets naked this time.

I have no idea what comic you read but spiderman got the symbiote in the secret wars versus the beyonder. Spidermans costume gets blasted to bits. Thor points him to a machine that restored Thor's costume and spiderman finds the machine and thinks of spiderwoman (she had a black costume with white spider when she was with the avengers) and poof a little black ball appears. ...it engulfs spidermans body and the rest is history.

Jonah jamesons son becomes the werewolf in the comics.

The jameson/venom introduction is from the Ultimate Spider Man comic, isn't it?

The NASA space mission finding the symbiote (and the Kingpin + Sinister Six stealing it) is in the cartoon. Sceleris already said what I remember of the comic...
