I've been reading WoT for over half my life, waiting years to see how it turns out, I hope to God he makes it long enough to finish. Pretty selfish of me, I guess, since the man has a possibly fatal disease - but shit, I can't help but feel cheated. I guess I can't blame Jordan, so I will just blame fate and curse the gods in general over this cruel twist of ill luck for Jordan, his family, and the millions of fans worldwide who have to face the fact that the jokes about him milking the series so long he would die before he finished it may now be turned to truth.

If Martin dies before the series is over (which i believe is up to 7 books now) I'm going to be all sorts of pissed, dude aint lookin so hot either.

ADwD needs to come the hell out already so the book after it can come out already so we can know wtf brieane (sp?) said and when shes going to let jaimie stump her.

Also i want to see the hound fight franken-gregor

Almost assuredly has something to do with her knowing where sansa is.

She doesnt know where sansa is, she was looking for her. I think she does know that Arya is still alive though and was last seen with the hound, i was thinking it would be something about that, whatever it is though its "one word".

I hated her at 1st but i actually startedto dig her by the end of the last book.

I didnt get into Martin's Ice and Fire stuff until very recently, long after Id read all available WoT novels and am already far and beyond a bigger ASoIAF fan than WoT. I dig the WoT stuff, but it just doesnt compare.

The biggest mystery of the Ice and Fire stuff I cant wait to see revealed is finding out who Jon's mother is. I read a dissertation length arguement trying to convince the reader that his mother was actually Lyanna and father was Rhaegar. Seemed very plausible.

In a surprise twist, Jon Snow's mother is Egwene Sedai.

You guys have to read Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen. It is the single greatest series I have ever read.

It's excellent, but so far only three books. WoT and Ice and Fire didn't start suffering bloat and padding until the fourth book.

Just read the first one, and yes, it is awesome. I picked up the second and third, which is all that is out in the US. Sadly, Tor seems to be taking their sweet ass time publishing them.

I can see how people compare him to Martin, because they are both unforgiving, but I think Erikson has a very different feel, magic and the gods are gigantic players, where ASoIAF there is very little magic and no gods. I don't know yet if I'd say it was better than ASoIAF, but its in the same category. I particually loved that it just started, no pages upon pages of exposition that bogged the story down. You just had to get it as you went along, if you weren't smart enough to keep up, too fucking bad, you aren't smart enough to get the story.

Magic is coming back into the world. Seems that now that the dragons are back, magic is growing stronger.

Yeah, but not near what Malazan is like. There's magic, gods, playthings, and prophecy all over the place. Its a noticable difference.
