| Heh, horrible story arcs...if they want to kill the Spiderman movies they just need to bring in that retarded clone of his who took over for long enough to make even the truest believers stop buying spidy comics. I still think that comic crash of the 90s was just because the new artists they brought in were complete crap. I def remember thinking that I could draw better comics than those at one point back then. bad drawing, bad coloring, bad storylines, pitiful paper stock being used...no wonder they couldn't give those rags away. So if they ripped out sabertooth's adamantium what happened to him? I seem to remember they had begun to try to turn him into an anti-hero like Wolverine by doing miniseries runs devoted to everyone's favorite psychotic canuck manbeast. Torrents work. I had a few random issues from a friend who didn't like it. Kazaa'd the rest(this was 2 or 3 years back) because I'm anal about finishing stories once I start them. Why I still real Wheel of Time and Sword of Truth I guess=/ | |

I read a few Sabretooth comics where he was basically a hitman, killing mobsters/criminals for cash. In the end he met up with Wolverine in some Paris restaurant, but I never finished the series. Dunno if that was before or after or what. As for the art, yeah no kidding. That's a big selling point for me now is the art on a lot of comics is just amazing. Looking through some comics, Kev Walker's art is good. And there's some Ultimate FF with pencils by Greg Land and ink by Matt Ryan that look absolutely incredible. I'm not a big enough comic nerd to actually know who does what comics normally so can't really say much else=P

| If I recall the animated series correctly, Rogue got her powers (other than the draining one) by draining Ms Marvel and holding on too long, although I forget the circumstances that lead to it. It put Ms Marvel into a coma from which she has yet to wake, and Rogue seems to have gained Ms Marvels strength and flight permanently, or at least the borrowed powers have not yet faded. *Hugs* Varia |

It's kind of like what will happen to the TV show Lost, if it goes on for more than another season or two. Obviously it would be suicide to permanently kill off a popular comic book character to give some conclusion to their story, but if they continue on as characters for 30 years eventually all the mythology and lore around the character stops making much sense.

| Yes, part of the problem with comics is that the storylines go on too long and are basically the same recycled tripe. Look at the X-Men: been around in one form or another for 40+ years now and they've recycled pretty much everything. If I were to write down a timeline for Magneto you all would laugh and assume it was parody. I would argue that Chris Claremont (basically THE X-Men writer back in the day) in his original run was probably the best the X-Men ever were. Of course, some of the best comics work out there was finite and designed to tell a complete story. Check out the Invisibles, Preacher, the Sandman, V for Vendetta, Watchmen, etc. As for Wolverine, he originally had his original adamantium skeleton torn out of his body by Magneto after Wolverine failed to kill Magneto. Soon after Wolverine left the X-Men and when he encountered Cyber (man with the adamantium skin) Cyber shattered his bone claws. Cyber was then killed by Genesis (horrible villain) who attempted to graft the adamantium from Cyber onto Wolverine, who rejected it. Apocalypse finally managed to convince Wolverine to have the adamantium grafted back on by basically telling himi that if he didn't, then Sabretooth would become his new Horseman of Death and would be a far greater threat than Wolverine was. Also, Rogue originally was a villain in the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Her original mutant ability was to steal the powers and memories of whoever she touched skin to skin. During an early battle with the Avengers she took too much power from Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel) and depowered her and permanently gained Danvers' super strength and toughness. |

| Lol, "hey wolvie, want some Adamantium? I'll send Sabertooth to kill you if you don't take it. It worked out so well last time I made one of you X-Men one of my Horsemen...at least you're a cynical little hairy guy instead of a gayer-than-Cyclops richboy with wings..." Apocalypse never was the brightest bulb in the box. X-men really WOULD make a good MMO, wouldn't it? "Hey, Apocalypse respawned with his army. Want to take him out or should we keep on going to raid Nimrod and The Master Mold? GODDAMMIT WHO INVITED DAZZLER TO COME ALONG?" Last edited by Iannis : 03-13-2006 at 10:09 AM. |
