Serenity

Overall I really liked it.

Few minor things I didn't like about it, but since it was trying to please fans while also making it accessible to new people, it was pretty good.

I also think its just a great sci fi action flick in its own right and you don't need to be a fan of the series to enjoy it, though it doesn't hurt.

Here's a clip of the first 9 min of the film, released by Universal, for those who haven't seen it yet and want to know what its about.

Went with a friend who has never seen the series. He loved it and wants to borrow my DVD's now.

I thought it was great. Very entertaining and some unexpected stuff.

I've seen it twice now (because my local theater is run by retards who put it in a theater with an aisle down the middle and a sound system that my home equipment could kick the shit out of) and have to say it's the best movie I've seen this year. I don't have a single negative thing to say about the movie, and would recommend it to practically anyone.

Go see it even if you haven't watched the series yet, you can always get ahold of the DVDs afterwards. It doesn't spoil the events in the series much and you'll understand the movie ok, although the movie won't have the same impact as it does for someone who's already seen the series.

10/10. There better be two more movies as promised, goddamnit.

11/10 imho just because of some of the one liners in the movie. More people were laughing at that movie then at some comides I've been to.

While I felt that the movie was more of a hybrid movie/tvshow, I think it fit well with what Whedon was brining to the plate. He upped the stakes big time from the series, basically giving the crew an almost Rebellion vs. Empire feel, except it's just a handful of people with a secret to let out.

I also think Joss gets a serious hard-on for chicks that kick ass. That scene near the end with River was like Buffy on steroids. And I absolutely loved the reveal with her holding the sword in one hand and that axe in the other.

Also, I cried. No spoilers here, but if you cared one lick about the characters in this series you might too. Or at least find yourself choked up a bit.

I hope he gets tapped to do more of these. Or Fox pulls their heads out of their asses and revives the series, but with Joss and crew being allowed to call the shots (that's the beef right now, Joss doesn't like Fox calling the shots). Or Fox sells the rights to Sci-Fi.

Tell your friends. Get your Star Wars geeks to go. Get your Star Trek geeks to go. Fuck, get your Matrix geeks to go. This is sci-fi at its near best. On the level of Episode 4 and pretty much one of the best to come out since Empire. I'm gonna drag my dad and father-in-law to go see it.

I watched the series first this weekend and it was bad ass. Then I went to see the movie and it was even more bad ass. I fuckin loved it, I seriously hope they either bring back the series or make more movies.

I was more pissed off then I was emotional at the "one point."

I don't think I've been more entertained by a flick in the last 10 years to be honest though. It was damn near perfect.

I enjoyed the series but certinaly dont give it as much praise as most people do. It was pretty one-dimensional and shallow, I dont think it was some amazing ground breaking TV series.

I have not yet seen the movie though. Havent had a chance to go, but hoping to go this Friday.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm very much looking forward to it. "Firefly" was one of my favorite TV shows of all time, and I'm still pissed it was cut down before its time.

I'm hoping we see some ass-kickery / comic relief from Jayne Cobb (Adam Baldwin), who is probably the coolest TV character ever.

As someone who did not watch the series, I can still say that I thought it kicked ass. It probably had the best pacing of any movie I've ever seen. I didn't even think to look at my watch once.

Here's to hoping they hit the mark and two more are on the way.

I've never seen an episode of Firefly, but I really liked the movie.

Kinda reminded me of Cowboy Bebop meets Star Wars heh ;p

I've tried to remain vague, but anyone with half a brain will be able to figure out what I'm saying below, so read with a possible spoiler alert in mind.

I've been a huge fan of the series, so seeing the characters again was great and highly emotional. When the first "Oh no!" moment happened, I was a little sad but nothing huge. I figured something like that had to happen anyways, and I was prepared for it going into the movie. Then the second moment happened. I actually gasped. "Like a leaf on the wind..." When the final battle scene was happening, and people were falling left and right, I was tearing up like mad, and was so pissed. Even after the movie was done and everything had a semi-happy ending I still felt like shit because I had gotten way to emotionally involved and couldn't turn the emotions down at that point!

Fantastic movie! Go see it!

He was brilliant for including that second death, though, because it made the audience honestly fear for the life of the remaining characters. You got the "all bets are off" vibe, and the outcome wasnt as clear. I mean shit, I think everyone was wounded very badly or put in a position where their demise could occur.
