| I enjoyed it actually. I was quite optimistic that it would be pretty bad but it exceeded my expectations. PROS: Mos Def was great as Ford. I really like that guy as an actor, so far he's been enjoyable in every roll I've seen him in. I've still yet to see "Something the Lord Made" though. The guy who played the Architech was awesome as well. He was by far the funniest character in the movie. The ship's voice and the Guide were great for some laughs too. CONS: I thought Marvin was very weak. He was so much funnier in the books but in the movies just fell flat. |

+84 Internets | The radio series was even better. I liked it. The book was exceptionally done. I prefered the TV series version, but you can't exactly go ripping it off completely, though it was neat to see the 'classic' marvin costume in the office. |

+2 Internets | Although it wasn't a total disaster, I did feel many of the jokes did not survive the transition to film. Some stuff that had me laughing out loud while reading the book just seemed to fall flat on it's face in the film. |

+4 Internets | Probably because I haven't read the books, I just didn't feel for this film. It had some nice moments but alot more "er.. " moments.. like the whole meeting in the earth's destruction auditorium. I enjoyed seeing Martin Freeman with a main role though.

Our lovely world's so lovely And everything’s so nice And everyone’s so happy Beneath the ink-black skies She is the only One for me I’m under her spell I can’t resist We walked hand in hand above the grass Then in the dark we kissed Our lovely world's so lovely See how the flowers grow It's just a shame my dog died She loved those flowers so! It’s so much fun working on the farm It fills my heart and soul with pride My wife and kids waiting safe from harm Makes me feel so warm inside Our lovely world's so lovely And everything’s so nice And everyone’s so happy Beneath the ink-black skies Our lovely world's so lovely See how the flowers grow It's such a shame my dog died She loved those flowers so! and then to have elvis sing it, great great stuff. | |

+84 Internets | There never was an old movie. It was a tv series on the bbc. Read the book, listened to the radio series (My dad has a bunch of it on cassette), watche the series, movie is good. Considering 80% of the script was written by Adams himself... |
