+2 Internets | Immortal (2004) This movie just came out on DVD and we caught it late one night while browsing OnDemand. I can't decide if it's just kind of horrible but with some interesting concepts or maybe a little brilliant. Anyone else see this thing? It's a scifi flick apparently based on a series of comics from the 80's and is set in the future... the story has lots of interesting elements... egyptian gods, mutants and cybernetic wackos, an evil corporation with an evil secret agenda, a mysterious alien incursion, a 5th element style city-scape (super high sky scrapers, retro-looking flying cars), etc. Some of the story might have made more sense if you could just understand the Egyptians talking to each other... perhaps on the DVD the dialogue is viewable via SAP or something... but otherwise there's no real indication of why Horus is on trial which is supposed to be the central plot of the whole movie. Overall, it's left me slightly puzzled... on one hand I want to say it's all bullshit but on the other I felt there was a hint of something almost cool in there somewhere. Then again, I saw a really horrible movie at the Alamo Drafthouse a couple of months ago that had nazi zombies and it was really horrible but I had to give it kudos just because it had nazi zombies so maybe that's all it is with this movie. |

+1 Internets | nothing like a bumping an old thread.. Has anyone seen this recently? I'm trying to decide whether I should just order this from Amazon.com. It sounded kind of interesting but none of the local DVD rental places have it on hand (ok, so I'm behind the time and don't subscribe to Netflix). |

| i have watched it 1 year ago my personal opinion is: they wasted the chance to do one of the most visionary sci-fi ever. and im serious saying it if they had a bigger budget it would have become a great movie unfortunatelly it feel like they never had the chance/time/money to complete it, leaving many questions open EDIT - not mentioning some of the 3d characters look like they come from a Commodore 64 rendering

| Not having read the comics or anything similar, I rented this movie and was totally in the dark watching it. I had NFI what was going on, and there were no clues in the movie to help anyone out. It was like trying to be really abstract, without any indication of why.
