Saw 2

Just saw this over at the apple movie trailer site. I personally thought the first one was very well done for being a horror movie. Hope this one follows up.

I just hope they have upped the quality of the acting a bit. Cary Elwes almost single-handedly ruined the film when he became a blubbering idiot at the end. Was the most non-believable performance I've ever seen outside of a Jr High School play.

I really liked the movie alot up to that point though, can't wait for the sequel.

Yeah I'll agree with you, the acting was awful. But I somewhat expect that from a horror movie.

I'll concede it was an average film that I didn't like. I cannot justify giving it a stamp of good in any possible way.

Saw was a decent first effort. Unfortunately it was also over-hyped, had some really awful acting in parts, and had an ending so utterly fucking ridiculous that the audience in the theater where I saw it just started laughing (as did I). Worst of all, Wan shot the death scenes like an amateurish version of Fincher rather than trying to come up with a style of his own.

Hopefully, Saw II will be a great movie because Wan isn't really involved with it at all, and Wan will have also learned from his mistakes in Saw and his next movie (Silence) will be much improved too. Dunno if even I'm enough of an optimist about movies to believe that one though.

I just saw Saw again with a class I was substitute teaching for (had nothing better to do) and I quickly realised exactly that point. It reminded me EXACTLY of Fincher's camera handling in Fight Club and it really didn't improve much. It starts off pretty early when you see the corpse in the toilet between the two guys.

Else I'm probably the only who did like the acting and over all the plot was soandso. I still credit it cause no one could guess it, then we can always discuss wether it was plausible etc. (you know what I'm talking about heh). In any way, it was creative and definitely had something and I hope it'll improve in the sequel. I'm still amazed they produced it in like 18 days. Saw was a good movie.

PS. I'll watch Saw any day over those shitty Blair Witch Project movies and those retarded American The Ring ones.

Biggest problem with Saw was the trailor kicked ass, but the movie was just average. The trailor made the movie look amazing, and it just wasn't.

i think it was a good throwback to classic horror movies with bad acting. we just have a different blend of bad acting in this era.

much like shaun of the dead was a very british comedy, but it was new age and ACTUALLY FUNNY. unlike all british comedy before it

They really need to hook this guy up with some super powers. His name is Jiggsaw or something and has cancer, ~oh noes~

But seriously, give him an extra arm or improved hearing, or like finely chisled abs.. or something!

How was the ending shitty? I mean you COULD have guessed it but you really had no clue if it was true or not before the end. There was literally no hints to that dudes relation to shit except as a guy in the backstory for that one guy. Then when he got up I was like holy shit. Even if you saw it coming you can't say it wasn't as least a twist you don't see everyday.
