Saw the trailer for this today. Since it's based on a book, is this one of those "he discovered proof of god/aliens/doomsday then proceeds to go crazy" movies?

Gwenyth kissing Jake Ghylskjsoslkdn strikes me as too bizzare.

I haven't read the book, I wouldn't mind hearing from somebody who had. The tone of the movie doesn't strike me as having some sort of revelation, but instead self-discovery.

I saw the play. the story is about a girl whose dead father was a math professor and she and her guy discover all his old journals, etc.

nothing too far out there, decent storyline that is completely actor dependant on how well it flows

I thought the movie was pretty good. I liked Pi a LOT though so I'm partial to anything with genius mathematicians. I hated that one with Russel Crowe though, god I hated that fukn movie.

I thought Paltrow played a pretty good role. It was slow at parts but there was enough math in the movie without really having math in the movie to make the idea of it all enjoyable, at least for me anyway.
