While I was reading the first paragraph, I was thinking, "Oh God no!" But then I read the rest and now I have to go masturbate.

Well...not much good for that.
You know that for some forever incomprehensible reason George Lucas decided to get Bai Ling cut from the movie, didn't you?

Wouldn't that have made a nice duel?

One quick question that I'm pretty sure wasn't covered. How was the score? I'm really eager to see if they used new material or re-hashed some of the classic SW music to evoke the feeling that can apparently be had at this movie. Millie? Thanks.

It's not really a stand-alone film at all. But then, none of the Star Wars films really are, aside from "A New Hope." It's definitely the best of the prequels, and probably right up there with the original trilogy. It's hard to quantify exactly where it stands in terms of the Star Wars films -- because after seeing this, you realize that the Star Wars saga needs to be viewed as 6 pieces of a whole, rather than 6 individual films to be compared with one another.

I thought the score was perfect. It was mostly subtle and relegated to the background, but there were times when the music soared to proper effect during key scenes. Most of the original score is used sparingly, but effectively (i.e., Imperial March, Emperor's Theme, Star Wars Theme, etc). And the prequel trilogy music is used well, too (Duel of the Fates, etc). "Battle of the Heroes" is definitely a new classic, and it makes the Anakin / Obi-Wan duel that much more epic. I had the song stuck in my head for 2 days after seeing the film.

Off-topic

Anyone here can upload the Dooku vs. Yoda fight from episode II?

Just a small request. I know Searyx once hosted it. Sorry for going off-topic.

Unfortunately, yes. But they're not too distracting in this one -- certainly not to the extent that they were in "The Phantom Menace" (a film which probably used a screen wipe for every scene transition).

I felt those are a staple of the Star Wars saga, they've been there since the first movie. It's just his style, much like John Woo and footage of birds...

Good write up, can't wait to see this one!

And that King outfit looks about 100,000 times more evil than Vader. Shit, that thing is creepy.

Yes I'm lame cause I have midnight tickets. Nevertheless even though I am excited to see this, it only hit me this morning that it's finally here. Now I'm fucking ready for this shit.

According to the trades (Daily Variety and The Hollywood Reporter), "Revenge of the Sith" has already pre-sold a record number of advance tickets to tonight's midnight showing. Fandango alone has already sold more than $20 million worth of tickets to midnight screenings.

Should be a positive sign for total box office take this weekend.

Just got back from seeing it. It was simply just a very good movie, can't say anything else - Millie covered it all, my friends even went home to watch episode four together but I passed, too tired.

Let me start off with the lightsaber fights. They were all very intense and I was like "holy fuck" at a lot of times, but especially when Yoda faced the Emperor and obviously when Anakin faced Obi-Wan. It was rapidly fast and was way better done than ANY fights ever. Must have taken a lot of time practicing those combos with each other (thinking Anakin/Obi-Wan).

I loved the scene with Anakin legless and in flames, you could really see his hatred just escalating into a Darth Vader alike level. It was cruel, rough but meanwhile strong and necessary. And god The Emperor is just so evil, haha, it's so perfect. And man did he look mean at severa occasions when he wore his cloak/cape thingy, you could see his white and pale skin but mostly his stingy and yellow eyes gazing with that evil voice of his. So well done.

Ending with Yoda mentioning Qui-Gon and "immortality" I looked forward to seeing and it was nothing long, but it was good nevertheless.

Humor did definitely not ruin anything, not even the cheesy moments. Atleast they were well accepted in our cinema and for my part as well. Music went strong and I loved how it turned onto the empire march at the right times. The kid rebelling in front of Bail Organa was cool too and the scenes with the Jedis just being slaughtered around the universe was really a "positive" experience.

Well, I'll shut up and let you lot say something. All in all, a great masterpiece.

PS. When they wore Padme when she was dead, did anyone else think of American Beauty? Hoho
