"Why, oh why George did we have to go through all this super-duper-mediclorian-Jar-Jar-Bullshit" when the genius that made the original trilogy was still hiding in there after all?"
This will more than likely happen. Although, even though he did create Star Wars, his reasons for the whole mediclorian Jar Jar shit just isn't good enough for me. It just sounds like a 5 year olds excuse, something along the lines of "it's my story and ill do it how i want to" or something like that.

Jar Jar is completely computer animated, they should just go back and edit his character to something that isn't so annoying.

Lucas has even admitted in interviews that the first two chapters in the prequel trilogy were basically made up on the spot. He had the whole fall of Anakin Skywalker planned out from Day 1 over 30 years ago. But all he had pre-planned were the events depicted in what would become Episode III. There wasn't enough of a storyline to fill 3 prequel movies. So the material for Episodes I and II was basically exposition and filler.

Really? I guess that somewhat explains the baby-killers that are Ep. I and II...but one thing doesn't make sense to me.

How is it the same person who created the original trilogy couldn't at least create a DECENT attempt at the first 2?

Oh well, from everything I've heard, he completely redeems himself with this one.

I, too, am holding out judgment until I see this one. If the dozens of reviews out there are any indication, this is the movie we've all been waiting for, and all will be forgiven.

He should have just gutted the required story pieces from episode one and thrown them into episode 2. If it had been one movie with the darth maul fight, clone wars, and yoda fight, would have been alot better. Less boring drama that Lucas can't do right, and more action.

I saw it, a good friend of mine's dad is old college friends with George Lucas and i saw a pre-screening on saturday the 7th. It was really good, especially in comparison to the last two. Good effects, great mood/atmosphere, some good "starwars" cheesy moments, (which wouldn't be cool if they were in a movie other than star wars), some good acting moments, good action..... etc etc. I was pleasantly surprised!

Channel 11 News did a special on it, according to said rumors. I'm told there were even lawsuits about "online prostitution," but I think my source was a little 'out there' in regards to the truth.

Now, to not derail (again), you have to wonder one thing: If Lucas even said that Episode 3 was pretty much "all he had," why the did he not really step in to make people want to watch it. Someone get him in touch with 197X Lucas about how to do this trilogy-movie routine.

At Celebrations III Lucas admitted really he could have done the entire fall of Anakin in one movie... what he didn't want though was a wash from him being 10, to 16, to 25 all in one movie.
He also was quoted as saying episode I and II are only 20% of the story each, with III being the other 60%.

So what you get is a lot of useless crap just tossed in there for good measure. The droid gungan battle, crap. The pod racer scene, ok but mostly crap, the midichlorian shit crap. Watching episode I, what mostly pisses me off is the cuts from the maul fight back to the gungan-droid battle that no one cares about.

Man watch that thing, it's like a bunch of droids fighting a bunch of gungans civil war style ontop of a windows XP default wallpaper WTF.

Episode I, really served only one purpose, for Palpatine to gain control of the senate via the Chancellor seat.

Episode II, served one purpose, for Palpatine to start the charade of a war with the separatists/trade federation. The war means nothing, the building of and the control of the clone army means everything.

Those two movies were more about setting up how the emperor gains control of the republic more than they were about setting up Anakin's fall. Episode III is the Anakin story really.

Even if it was just useless filler to fill the gap, he didnt have to make it suck ass, turning away alot of fans.

That sure as hell is what GL is saying now, to promote the third prequel.

It also sure as hell isn't what he said before "the Phantom Menace" when it was all about how important it is to show the early stages of little Anakin to understand the character of ol'Darth, yadda, yadda...

Exactly. I found myself actually rooting for the droids in that fight.
