I was thinking Narnia + Weta Workshop = teh win...

But then I saw the Disney copyright at the end and got nervous.

The minotaurs look badass though.

I loved the Narnia books as a kid. (Probably the first "fantasy books" I actually read.) And WETA did the CG/special effects for LotR, so no complaints there. (That minotaur looked awesome!)

But yeah. The Disney thing scares me. I half expect them to completely butcher the plot, and have the movie be nothing at all like the books.

Indeed. High hopes for this one to be sure. I keep saying that if they can nail Aslan then they have won half the battle for a fitting film version. I'm at work and haven't watched this or any other trailer that might be out there, have they given any indication on how Aslan will look yet?

Simba and Nala's kid grew up to be a divine Lion, adopted by the Emperor Across the Sea, who likes little kids.

He will be animated, a la Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Luckily there shouldn't be too much "objectionable" about the Narnia series (hey, if Mel Gibson could make a 2 hour long cruxifiction scene and people take their kids to see it...) Unluckily Disney is well known to wholly butcher stories both fictional and real to fit their idiotic concepts of Disney-Approved morality.

I just hope they don't put words into Lewis' mouth he published so many essays on morality and theology that it would be a grand disservice to him if they Disneyfied Narnia.

In other news, I'd like to see a Prince Caspian more than L/W/W. Plus, it leaves it wide open to Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Those 2, IMO are the best in the entire series.

little FYI, Tolkien and Lewis were good friends in RL. A bet on who could write the most successful fantasy series resulted in them writing their respective series.

Yeppers, Lewis, Tolken and T.S. Elliot were all friends back in tha day. Lewis I think convinced Elliot to accept Christianity. I went to college with Lewis's grandson when I lived in TX.

Friends, yeah, writing the series on a bet? Haven't heard much of that. Although I could be wrong, I know nothing.

The bet was real. But these were OLDE school Brits and the wager wasn't cash. Tolkien won tho his novel was not as overtly Christian in its metaphores as Lewis's.

Concurrance. Some of the books shouldn't be movies. They didn't NOT serve purpose as each filled Narnia in more, but aren't as good as others. The Silver Chair, The Horse and His Boy are two I know could be removed. Probably The Magicians Nephew as well, although seeing the hellish post-apocalypse dustworld the original Witch came from would be neat.
