+4 Internets | I, Robot Quicktime Trailer I didn't realize Will Smith was in it till I saw this. I'm kinda bleh over the same Will Smith personality he portrays in every movie but who knows maybe it'll be fun. Definitely not a very close representation of Asimovs book however. |

| Looks like a piece of shit. Asimov is spinning in his grave. "...And laws are made to be broken." ^^ That, my friends, is the way you spot a horrid piece of shit before you spend 10 bucks on a ticket. When the best thing a trailer can offer is a trite, "trailer-speak" cliche, you know the movie is going to suck. The only redemption possible would be to have Martin Lawrence doing the voice of the robot. "Damnnnnnn Gina, you know you ain't just done that!" |

+5 Internets | Well, that's annoying. The last Asimov adaptation, "Bicentenniel Man", while not following the story as Asimov wrote it exactly, was really good. When I saw the preview for this though....*sigh* poor book. Last edited by Aulirophile; 03-17-2004 at 03:32 PM.. |

+13 Internets | Looks like the beginning of the AniMatrix stories when the robot goes on trial for killing it's master. But I guess I can assume the Wablowski's stole that from Asimov. But I agree, it could be cool, but it won't be.

| I don't think I, Robot is really meant to be translated to film. I can't picture it any more than seeing a film version of my psych book from HS. You don't get to sit and ponder shit in the movie theater, and that book is one meant to be pondered. So I guess some wack movie merger is about as good as we can expect. [Edit] Gee. I actually watched the trailer, and yes this has nothing to do with the book. /shrug -- see above. They didn't even get the robot code right. [Edit II] If you want to see some robot rebellion, get the Animatrix Last edited by FoghornDeadhorn; 03-17-2004 at 07:44 PM.. |

+286 Internets | Dunno 'bout anyone else, but when I want cinematic masterpieces (or close to that), I'll go to the movies around Nov to Dec. In the summertime though, I want to have a few beers before the movies, go in, and be entertained by a lot of cussing, explosions, sex, and violence (not in that order, mind you). Yeah, this flick looks like good beer fodder, but that's just fine with me. That and "The Day After Tomorrow."

| If you just ignore any attempted connection to Asimov it has the potential to be a really good sumer popcorn action flick. The title is nothing more then an attempt to capitalize on the Lord of the Rings fantasy novel to screen fad. Or then again it could be the next Battlefield: Earth. Not only a horrible adaptation of the book but an outright horrible movie period. I agree about Bicentenial Man, Aulirophile. A very enjoyable flim.

| I cannot understand how Bicentennial Man simply has been forgotten so quickly... Its nice to hear some others remember it. Robin Williams brought that character to life so well. And yes, this does look a lot like an early 'Matrix' thing with a few names from I, Robot. Reminds me a lot of Little Lost Robot, I believe it was, with the telepathic robot on Jupiter. With shades of 'The Caves of Steel' thrown in. Hard to figure. |
